Really? Do you have this problem? I wrote the original config system and have never had that problem since. I just got the latest version off GitHub and didn't have to input my directory.

Where do you have to patch the script?

I am also not sure how you are experiencing this. All releases before 1.0 (and they are not even in here, rather my personal SF account as archive) required manually editing the script. Thanks to Banbury, version 1.0 removed that requirement, and Tribex did indeed write the original configuration system (well, I say that only in regards to the current system. Banbury did have it preserving the path using Blender presets in v1.0) which I took and improved a bit in addition to expanding it. Can you provide more information on how this may be still happening?

(a) documentation tells users to do so: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Import-Export/LDRAW_Importer

(b) does the tool show a messagebox asking the user to edit the path in case it is broken?

It also says the newest version is 1.0, when it is really 1.1. :P The page is out of date, but I am updating it in another other tab right now. 😉

B. Per #14, major errors display an error box for the user. Previously, they would pass silently. This includes an invalid installation path to the LDraw Parts Library. In addition, part of the configuration system on Windows attempts to detect your installation path in the most common places, making it possible for a majority of users to never have to even touch that box. So to answer your question, yes, it does.

Issue is now closed.

I finished updating the documentation on the Blender Wiki. 😉

Basically (if you don't understand all that computer lingo that le717 was using ;) ), the importer automatically detects the path of your LDraw directory if you have it installed in a common location (like C:\LDraw or C:\Program Files\LDraw, etc). If you have it installed in an odd location, you'll have to type the path in the box, but you don't need to edit the script at all.
