So, this is a feature request (might possibly work on this myself).
You suggestions are great! Honestly, designing a nice UI is not my strength. I encourage you, if you're interested, to submit pull requests with suggested changes. I can help out where I can.

Also options for how to display the cards would help me:
- Optionally displaying the note after the card name. Because sometimes the note is useful, but not in the card list. It would also look better (in my opinion) to show the name with a bold font, but the note in a lighter font.
- An option to hide the card ID to make the list more compact.
- Maybe even an option to show two columns (one big list, but in two columns; or one column with most used cards, as suggested above; or where you can pin/star/favorite your cards)

Instead of displaying the note optionally, they should be shown at end in detail view, but not at all in list view. Notes are never relevant in card list, or does someone have some example?

The original reporter deleted their GitHub account. Most of the things asked here have been implemented:
Colours: implemented
Search: implemented
Directory: Not yet, maybe we can suggest autocompletion on the store name field but there are many many many stores and people in different countries will have different scores. This seems like it will be a bit too much.
Two panes: Not really planning, but @t351206 has created code to allow you to favourite cards, which would support pinning and I think will solve this once it's been merged.
