The fact that tabs and spaces are mixed is clearly a problem, and it is my fault. That should be taken care of indeed.

As for the number of spaces: I am old and grumpy, and immune to changes:-) I personally find four spaces way more readable than two. That is how I tried to intend all the codes that I do (probably a habit I took when my main programming language was python, but I believe I did that even before Python existed when I used C or C++...). Ie, I would prefer keeping it with four spaces.

fwiw, the current “standard” for JS projects at the W3C is:

  • 2 spaces for indentation
  • ESLint (although most projects are still using the old JSCS)
  • JSHint

(See § Technical Decisions in the Design / Style Guide repo — although it's WIP, incomplete, not reviewed widely yet.)

I personally try to have an .editorconfig file in my projects too, when I have the time for that.

@tripu, well, I hate it. I always have difficulties to see the correct structure when using two spaces.

In that case, four spaces in this particular project is good enough a compromise for me, @iherman.
