csgo-osx-linux's Issues

XBox360 controller support in Linux is broken

Ubuntu 14.04
XBox 360 Controller
'joystick' set to '1'.

Controller isn't recognized at all. Can't navigate menus, and the analog sticks dont do anything and the buttons do not work. In the menu, none of the actions have a binding associated with them and I can't rebind them.

Is the controller supposed to work? Because otherwise the game seems to work fine.

[Linux] No friction in game

On the maps that do launch, there seems to be no friction on the maps, resulting in players just sliding around like on ice, and the only way to move is by jumping. Players will continue to slide until they hit something or fall off something.

Issue was replicated on following maps:

  • Mist
  • Castle
  • Overgrown
  • Cobblestone
  • Train
  • Aztec

Other maps resulted in instant crash and could not be tested. #32

Console Doesn't Open

When I press the key to open the console, I do not see the console. I'm also unable to open the console during the main menu.

I've attempted to re-bind the console to , as well as L, and neither improved the situation.

Currently running Gentoo.

[Linux] Game crashing when loading resources

When starting a local game against bots the map begins loading but the game crashes when loading resources. I was not able to get any console output since i could not find info on how to launch cs:go from the console, but please fill me in on that and I will supply more info.

When testing all maps, the following maps resulted in a crash. I also tested some of them repeatedly with the same results.

Black Gold
Dust
Dust 2
Rush
Insertion
Nuke
Mirage
Inferno
Overpass
Cache
Vertigo
Office
Italy
Assault
Militia
Weapons test

The following maps did not result in a crash but was unplayable due to other issues.

Mist
Castle
Overgrown
Cobblestone
Train
Aztec

[Linux] Can't change language to other than english. How to change to polish?

As in the title, despite the fact that the game supports the Polish language I can not change the language the game from English to Polish.

On steam I use Polish language, in the properties of the game CS: GO is also set to have a Polish language, but despite this game always starts in English.
I set up a command in the startup options:
"LC_ALL=C LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8 SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulse %command%"
but nothing helped.

Some ways to change the language?

Can't change speaker configuration

If I set the "Speaker Configuration" on the Audio Settings to anything other than "2 Speakers", it doesn't do anything – I don't hear the usual signs of audio reinitialization such as starting to play the menu music from the beginning again and upon the next time I enter the Audio Settings menu, I can see it had reset itself to "2 Speakers"

[Mac] "Enable Raw Input" toggles itself off upon saving

On the mac version, using raw mouse input is no longer possible. Whenever I toggle the setting and save, it seems to turn itself off again. The next time I visit options, it's turned off again.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Enable "Enable Raw Mouse Input" in the settings
  • Save / leave the settings
  • Return to the settings to find it turned off again

HUD disappears

I'm not sure it's Linux or Mac specific bug, anyway I think I need to report it.

Sometimes (not always), when you change server or server changes level/map, HUD can just disappear (by "HUD" I also mean crosshair, chat etc.; check screenshot anyway). Happened twice to me already. If HUD has disappeared, only CS:GO restart helps (reconnecting or connecting to another server does not).

[Linux] VSync options have no effect [Solved]

Problem: VSync is often enabled system-wide for all applications, including games, limiting the frame rate to 60 FPS. This is unacceptable in CS:GO, and also made raw mouse input act terribly laggy. The game was unplayable.

I fixed it by putting the following line in csgo.sh:

export vblank_mode=0

and that solved all Vsync issues. Other than the reported shadows and some lag (probably from wifi), the game runs... decently. Much lower FPS than Windows, but bearable.

Arch Linux 3.16 NVidia proprietary drivers 340.32, Nvidia 860M

Corrupted gun skins

Part way through a match, all the gun skins became corrupted and stayed that way for the rest of the match (until I crashed at the end of the final round - issue #26). This happened right after using the Galil Sandstorm and most of the later corruption had parts of that skin in it.

Corrupted gun skin

System info

[Linux] High mouse sensitivity.

I use Logitech MX518 on raw input, the same settings on windows. i have even lowered the mouse sensitivity in-game to 1, it's still too high.

[Linux] Dark/Missing Textures , Unless under direct light source

Most noticeable on CS_Office , The dark textures show on hostages , pictures , the gun model itself .

The gun model texture will show up if I walk under a direct light source.

csgo_linux Doesn't shut down (ubuntu 14.04)

After closing the game, the process csgo_linux doesn't shut down. This does not allow me to reopen said game and continues to use system resources.

I am able to kill the process but I'm assuming this is NOT working as intended.

Stutter and screen blank when other windows try to display anything

I think the screen blanking is due to Gsync, but the stutter happens regardless. Not sure exactly the cause but I suspect it's something to do with other applications trying to draw to the screen and killing CS' exclusive control. Monitor is the Asus Swift PG278Q, problem doesn't happen in Windows.

[Linux] CS:GO crashes on "loading resources" when starting a new offline game

Hello.
I can get in to the main menu and everything seems to be ok but when I try to start a new offline game with bots the game crashes. Also, sound doesn't work.
Doesn't matter if I use my dedicated nVidia card with Bumblebee or the integrated HD 4000.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Start a new offline game with bots (or the weapon course). The game should crash when it says "loading resources".

[linux]5760x1080 render looks horrible

I have posted about other source games and this one is no exception (ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games#1797). Everything goes wonky when running @ 5760x1080. The menus all look and work great, it's just in game. It looks great @ 1920x1080. I have posted other screen shots before in the linked report above, but these are the best ones yet to show what I am talking about.

In the root of the screen shot archive linked below there are 2 screen shots, one showing what my settings are set at and also a full 5760x1080 screen shot in game. In the "easy compare" sub directory I have taken a shot of the game running at 1920x1080 looking great and then simply changed the resolution to 5760x1080 and took a shot in the same spot looking not so great, and then cropped it to only the middle 1920x1080 to make it easy to switch between the two and see the difference. I thought it was defaulting to low res textures, but I can see the difference in switching between low, med & high textures @ 5760x1080 even with the wonky image so maybe not? So shaders freaking out maybe? I have also linked pastebins with logs of the game running @ both 1920x1080 and 5760x1080, I have compared the 2 with Meld and I as far as the game running I see no difference.

Link to screen shot archive.

Wont start on Fedora 20

Hey,
When I start CS GO the screen gets black for a few seconds, with mouse visible. Then returns back to desktop. I know you guys have much work now, thanks for the great work, just wanted to let you know.

I am running Fedora 20 with Gnome Version 3.10.2 on Intel core i5 4250 with integrated Intel HD 5000 (Macbook Air 13 (mid 2013).

Game crashes when using a nonexistent comm shortcut

A most peculiar thing happened to me when I mispressed "Follow me".

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start any match (tested on offline with bots)
  2. Press 'z6'
  3. Observe how the game crashes to desktop

Playing on Ubuntu 14.04, LC_ALL set to C so the game works at all.

No Shadows(OSX)

I get excellent performance but have no dynamic shadows since 1 update after they were added for OSX.
I'm running csgo on an Imac i5 2.5 Ghz, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3, OSX 10.7.5.

[Linux] Unable to aim towards top-left corner with mouse

When aiming towards the top-left corner with the mouse in-game (both offline and online), the view stops moving. I'm able to aim in all directions except diagonally towards the top-left corner. This happens both in fullscreen and in windowed mode, no matter how fast or slow I move the mouse, altough the mouse is allowed to travel a small distance before the view stops moving. Disabling raw mouse input doesn't help.

The distance the mouse is allowed to travel before the view stops moving seems to depend on the resolution / window size: the problem is more apparent with a low resolution and a low mouse sensitivity.

(My mouse is a standard USB mouse which uses the evdev driver; nothing special. It works fine in other games like Counter-Strike 1.6 and Quake 3.)

Downloading custom files from "community" servers doesn't work

I tried connecting several "community" servers (worked around the issue #3 by connecting with the connect command through the console).
Each and every time, if the server needs custom files, the game starts a download but it is stuck at 0%, indefinitelly/
I tried those same custom file URLs with wget and with a web browser and outside the game, those files download perfectly fine, so it's definitely a problem with the game itself.

Camera is shaking way to much [LINUX]

When I shoot, the camera shakes up and down so incredably much, way more than on the windows version.

The graphics card I am using is a GTX 780.

Fonts are odd in developer console, and on bomb display

The font used for the console and the bomb display is of an unusual script and is difficult to read. I am aware that this may be a configuration issue that is specific to me ( or other unlucky linux gamers) but I figure that it may atleast get noticed. Please feel free to close the issue if deemed unimportant.

The pictures were screenshot from a resolution of 1280 x 720. The in game graphics settings were all at the lowest possible. AA off. FXAA off. Trilinear filtering. mat_queue_mode 2. No blur, no vsync.

The images may be blurry, but the font oddity should be noticable, I should be able to provide cleaner screenshots should the need arise.

The font is not fully displayed on the bomb.

The console uses the same (or a similar) non-monospaced font as well.

Microphone not working in game.

Picked up by steam voice test but not in lobby or matches.

Have tried pulse and alsa, USB and 3.5mm mics.

Are there any useful details I can post to help?

[Linux] Cant shoot enemies

Enemies seem to be impossible to kill using guns. I have tried emptying several mags from point blank range and although bullet wounds appear on the enemies no damage seems to be made. Using the knife though results in kills.

[Mac] Mouse cursor hangs/disappears in CommunityServer browser view

Whenever I open up the community server browser, the ingame mouse-cursor gets stuck/disappears and it is not possible to select a server or interact with the view at all via mouse.

Workaround: Switching into Steam Overlay and back leaves me with a second, system default mouse cursor that works in the community server browser.

Game won't launch on AMD Open Source Drivers

Hi. I am using Mesa git with a Radeon HD 7950. CSGO will not launch and gives me the error "Could not find required OpenGL entry point 'glGetError'! Either your video card is unsupported or your OpenGL driver needs to be updated." Dota 2 and my other Linux native ports work fine.

Here is the output from the console.
