Just tested it, works fine here. SVN 626 is pretty ancient -- I believe it dates back to the time that dinosaurs roamed the earth. What sort of PC do you have? What happens if you try adding -legacy3d on the command line? If that improves the situation, the problem is likely that your GPU is underpowered for new 3D engine.

Hahaha yeah it's pretty old, but the thing is, I do use the new 3d engine on SVN 626 as well and no problems there.
Still I tried Supermodel Version 0.3a-git-78f5056 with the suggested legacy3d option, but no luck either.
I think maybe my issue could be related to the transition from sdl to sdl2 ? Just guessing...

My hardware is:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U
Graphics: CometLake-U GT2 [UHD Graphics]

The new engine has changed substantially over the past few years. All graphics work is done exclusively there and the legacy engine hasn't changed for many years. But if you say it's still happening with the legacy engine, then that probably rules out a performance issue. I can't think of any other big changes that would have this impact.

Are you able to build Supermodel? If so, if you could build a version immediately before and after the transition to SDL2 to confirm this hypothesis, that would be helpful. Otherwise, I'm not really sure what it could be. Does the sound issue affect any other game?

Well, I tried Scud Race and it sounded bad as well, so that telled me it was not just a Sega Rally 2 problem.
This made me decide to compile 0.3a-git-78f5056 instead of using the pre-compiled binary, and that did the trick!

Also it's worth telling I was not running Windows but FreeBSD, so I was running Supermodel through Wine and not natively (I should have said this from the beginning).

So I finally built Supermodel on FreeBSD, and for that I had to create a custom makefile taking some bits from both Makefile.OSX and Makefile.UNIX till I got it to compile.

Now srally2 runs perfectly, so I owe you an apology for wasting your time...
Also thank you devs for making this project cross-platform :)

Closing it, it wasn't an issue.
