remote-jobs's Issues

Accessing the company opportunities

Many of the companies listed don't have a link/item on the menu on their website for the jobs they are offering. I am wondering if such companies belong to the list

Tech stack section

Can do a PR but wanted to bring it up for discussion first. Think it's worth having a column for tech stack of the company? I know tech stack is sometimes transient but may be helpful for scanning the list (which is only going to grow) if only interested in certain tech.

(Great idea btw 👍)

Maybe note which are US-only?

There are a few companies on that list who are remote, but only within the same timezones as the US, or even within the physical United States. If the intent is to create a US-specific list I guess it doesn't matter much, but the use of "remote" to mean "you can work from SF or NYC!" can be a little confusing if you're international. Noting which are US-only would be an awesome addition, if practical.

Thanks for putting this together!

Tech stack

Would be nice to have a column of tech stack used in the company

WeWorkRemotely

WeWorkRemotely is a job board for remote only jobs run by Basecamp.

I noticed that most of the companies that post there were missing from this list.

This issue is to remind myself to add the companies to the list. If this issue has no updates after 24 hours, you can assume I forgot and take over.

descriptions

It'd be cool to have some kind of short description about what each company is/does.

Add a page for each company

Maybe instead of trying to stuff so much information in the table, we should link out to an informational page in the repo about the company from the table. It could include details like office locations.

How much information is needed to submit a PR

I noticed that the read has been expanded, and there are submission guidelines. I was going to submit a few companies but some of the information I'm not able to locate, what is needed to submit a PR and how much can be added later?

Write a static site generator in JavaScript

We can expand the existing JavaScript code in this repository to generate a static HTML site. I think it can be based on a couple of simple templates like site/pages/index.html and site/pages/company-profile.html that have a place to insert the content generated from each .md file.

This site generator should be compatible with Netlify (#422).

Pre-requisite: #420 (heh).

Related: #44.

Adding MarsBased

This pull request adheres to the repository's Code of Conduct.

I am an employee of the company mentioned and confirm all included details are correct
This PR contains housekeeping only (URL edits, copy changes etc)
You know your alphabet - company is listed in alphabetical order in the README
The company directly hires employees. No bootcamps / freelance sites / etc
The company added hires remote employees, or positions are available to remote workers and are clearly illustrated as such
A company profile is included - Required for new additions. (This can be a basic outline but at least something please)
Any missing parts from the profile, please use to allow for future completion
Remote status has details regarding how the culture includes remote employees, how the company integrated remote workers, etc
Region details any restrictions to applicants based on geography
How to apply details the best approach for new applications, page on site where open position are listed, and any other help available for job hunters

Add Glassdoor reviews

Amazing list but the addition of Glassdoor reviews as a column in the company profiles would be even more amazing!

Create a GitHub Pages site

This may be easier to find/user if it's on a GitHub pages site. I'd pull this out into an org so that it wouldn't be under my username.

Add Scalac to the list

Scalac.io is a company with a focus on bespoke development utilizing the Lightbend stack. Its fully remote and is a great place to be. Pretty sure, it should be on the list

Remote vs really remote

Being from Australia often has advantages and disadvantages, one question that time again stands out while looking for remote work is "how remote?" — Many U.S companies are not comfortable with someone in a different timezone. It'd be great to add some information like:

Company location(s) Domestic remote International remote
Melbourne, Kraków

Hook up this repository to Netlify

I've reserved https://remote-jobs.netlify.com/ (but it's not doing anything until we finish #421).

Let's hook this subdomain up to this repository in Netlify so that it automatically updates with each change here.

@dougaitken - it looks like I need your help with this as the owner of the remoteintech organization. I will reach out separately and get a good email address to use for this.

Clean up the list

Hi,

In the current list there is clearly some companies there are not offering remote jobs.

They should be removed from the list.

IBM no longer remote-friendly?

I've been seeing reports and personally from family and friends who work there, that IBM is pulling in all remote employees and forcing them to work in regional offices.

Make JavaScript code testable

The JavaScript code that does some data validation stuff for this repository should have automated tests. The idea is that it will also serve as the foundation for a static site generator that allows front-end filtering, but it needs to be really solid for all of these different tasks.

Related: #44.

Validate whether profiles marked as incomplete are actually incomplete

In the main readme and in individual company profiles, we use ⚠️ to indicate that a company profile is incomplete. Incomplete profiles also only have a single section ("Company blurb").

There are three things we can check automatically here (warning icon in readme, warning icon in profile, and only one section in profile). We should make sure these indicators all match and have the validation script throw up an error if they don't.

Add a column for type of work

It would nice to be able to easily scan and find companies that have jobs that are applicable to your skill sets.
