eb1a's Issues

Proof scientic reviews

Thanks again for your previous response. I think better to open a new issue for others to check as well.

My question is what should be the proof of scientic reviews? The inviation email? For Journals, we do have such emails. But how about for conferences?, e.g., CVPR. Normally, the invitation is not specific to one article, and you can be assgined for several papers. So what should be the proof for that?

Thanks.

Support on eb1a self petition

Hi Razvan, I have gone thru your self petition docs and it gave me the confidence to do the same. Could you please help me if the petition letter, exhibits, and other supporting docs must be couriered to the USCIS or is there an option to upload everything to their online website (I'm from India and currently living in India). Sorry if the question is dumb!

Reference letter

Hi, really a nice material for the DIY application, thanks a lot!

I have a question about the reference letter. You mentioned that "Reference letter writers should also ideally not be in your immediate collaborator circle". So you are saying better not to ask reference letter from your co-authors, right? Even he is very famous in the field?

Any tools to strategy to find these persons?

BTW, I read your StyleGAN3D paper, which is a nice baseline.

Thanks
Wei

aux path appears reserved

The clone script failed when copying the files in the aux directory.
I tried creating the directory manually, and got this message:

mv : Cannot process path '.\EB1A\aux' because the target represents a
reserved device name.

EB-1A Profile Build

Hi Razvan,

We just texted on Reddit. I'm SprinklesWise1057.

Info about me:
Undergrad Year - 2022 from India
Master's - 2023 from US (Johns Hopkins)
Age - 23 years old

  1. Research Publications - Currently working on 1 as main author. Might be co-author on other papers by end of year. Do the papers have to be published via academia?

  2. Judge others work - I'm going to be one of the judges for a UK online hackathon, with participants coming from all over the world. Would this be considered? How many like these would I need?

  3. Critical Role - I work at the Neurology Lab at Johns Hopkins as a Senior Software Engineer. For this criteria, would a letter from my Manager/Director of the lab be enough?

  4. High salary - My salary is $100K per annum. 2 websites show that my salary is in the top 90%. Salary.com and indeed.com

  5. Media - I plan to approach media publishers to publish my articles or write about me. This will take a long time.

This is my plan. Could you please let me know if this is a practical plan?

Thanks!

Bio for recommenders

Hello Razvan,

Thank you very much for providing all this information.

I have a question: Regarding the bios of the recommenders you attached, are they brief bios (around one page) or the first page of their resumes? I already have the full resumes for these recommenders, which are over 10 pages each.

Thanks,
Chenning

Requirements for recommendation Letters

Razvan, thanks for sharing all this information.

One question: should recommendation letters be signed and scanned? Or just stating the name and contact info would be enough? Thank you.

Hey Razvan,

Review of EB1 PETITION

Hi Razvan,

Great information and resources you shared. This is the best free resource I have seen, and even better than some paid resources.
I do not have a research background but I have some publications, won some awards, and have published materials bout my work. Would you be open to taking a look at my petition to see where it can be improved?
Thank you.

EB1-A Questions

Hi Razvan,

Just starting out to think a bit about an EB-1 visa. Stumbled on your very helpful and free article somehow. Wanted to get your opinion regarding the general thought process for going about this.

For context- here's what my background looks like-

  • MS CS from UW-Madison
  • SWE at Snowflake (for about ~1.5 yrs now)

Here's the criteria that I'm targeting and how I'm thinking about satisfying them from my side-

  • High Income- I think compensation might satisfy the requirements posted for 90% on the BLS data- levels-fyi v/s BLS data- Please do confirm if I'm looking at the correct data for BLS and doing an accurate comparison.
  • Critical Role - I'm thinking I could probably get a letter from one of our Principal Engineer/Director at my company for this. Let me know if there are any gotchas for this.
  • Original Contributions - I have 1 non-first-author paper in ML with around ~80 citations, 1 patent in ML granted, and have another patent in draft/pipeline which I'm trying for currently in Security, with already wide customer usage. Is this enough? If not, how much more do I need (according to you) to satisfy this criterion? I understand that this is very subjective, but would like some estimate from your side to get a rough idea of the effort required here.

Recommendation Letters- I'm thinking of getting one from a Principal Engineer from my workplace, and another from one of my Assistant Professor in UW-Madison CS. Honestly, I don't have an idea how to get beyond this- so would love to hear your thoughts.

I read across multiple blogs of people getting EB-1A visas, that judging is one criterion people consistently use- so thinking about that one, although I don't know how to go about that yet- Can you please provide your input on how I can go about this one?

As an aside, I'm currently in the process of filing for an EB2-NIW through my employer. Does a successful EB2 NIW help the EB-1A application?

Overall, I'm estimating a timeline of ~2 years to gather enough evidence before starting to put in an application for the EB-1A. Correct me if that's wrong in either direction!

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks a ton for your time!

Thanks,
Ajay
