For what purpose? I don't use heroku so perhaps you could elaborate on the need for zlib?

That doesn't really explain why it should be included in Ranvier or what purpose it would serve. Is there that much data being passed between the client/server that it needs to be compressed?

No - Ranvier complains about no zlib installed if so.

It shouldn't, I certainly haven't installed zlib that I know of and I don't use zlib at all. If the other modules require zlib then they have their own package dependencies. I can check when I get home but as far as I know I don't have any modules that require zlib.

Maybe it's my setup - I got the problem installing Ranvier on Heroku.
