jsapi_demos's Issues

urban sketch: data unavailable

Description

It looks like data for the urban sketch sample is not available anymore. Console errors indicate this by a 404 error from the building scene server.

Update "About" section to reflect the product name change

Description

ArcGIS API for JavaScript got rebranded as ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript. This name change should be reflected in the About section of this repository.

image

The about section is set in the repository's settings. I can't access there and/or make a PR to change the name.

Sketch The City Style Suggestion - Water Color

Hi Raluca,

I have a live copy of the sketch the city app on my own fork. After experimenting a bit with the sketch/styling, I got an idea for a "water color" style. I was thinking it would be great is the native color of the SPK showed through the style. I got this to happen by commenting out the material settings, and boosting the extension length. I was wondering if you had any ideas beyond this to get this to be more "water color" style. I know I have a project or two that could use something like this.

Cassini globe throws tile fetching errors when zooming in

Description

Resolution of the cassini globe is limited. When zooming in "too much", we start to see tile loading errors on the console. Consider adding a zoom limit and/or ignoring the errors. Note: Nothing is fundamentally broken here. If you zoom in "too much", you'll just get blurry resolution as expected.

How to prepare the scene viewer

Hi Raluca,
I would like to know how to prepare the scene on arcgis.

I have created a scene and it runs, but the buttons: Color by construction year, Color by height, and Color by usage do not work, when I click the any button the objects (buildings) disapear.

Could you help me?
Fernando.

Rename master branch to main

Description

Inclusive language is a best practice today. For example, new projects on github by default have a main branch. Using main over master for the default branch of a repository is also in accordance with Esri's guidelines on inclusive language.

Github has documentation on renaming the default branch here.

San Francisco buildings demo crashes with 4.26

Description

Updating the San Francisco building demo to 4.26 crashes the app when drawing a selection polygon. Steps to reproduce

  1. Update the app to 4.26
  2. Load the scene
  3. Click "Draw a selection polygon" from the widget
  4. Place two points
  5. Observe the following error on the command line

This worked fine up to and including version 4.25.

Low poly world demo broken since 4.24

Description

Low-poly world demo is broken since API version 4.24. Found while updating apps to 4.26 and reverted back to 4.23 for the sample to work in the mean time.

The sample started to break with 4.24 because https://js.arcgis.com/4.24/esri/tasks/QueryTask.js can't be found anymore. This is because tasks in esri/tasks have been deprecated with 4.20 and support was removed in 4.24, see release notes.

Tasks have been moved to esri/rest with a similar interface. It should be straight forward to update.

License Request

Hi Raluca,

I think all the demos you have compiled here are incredible. The sketch the city demo in particular is one I am very interested in. However, there is no licence attached to it.

Is it possible to add a license so the terms of use are clear?

Thanks,

David W.
