frontend's Issues

Can't press play

So, this is likely just user error, but I'm new to this whole thing. My apologies if you've addressed this before, but I couldn't find anything. Heck. I'm not even sure if this was the right place to bring this up. I'm really sorry. Anyway, the problem I'm having is 2 fold. So first, I can't convert any save that wasn't autosaved at the end date. It pops up with a message about renaming the file. Second, and this is the most troubling to be honest, if I do get the files to convert, it doesn't actually let me play them in Vic2. It loads fine. It gets to the choose your nation map just fine. The map clearly shows the world as I saved it in EU4. However, the play button on the bottom left stays gray no matter how many times I click. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

Frontend can't decompress EU4 saves

EU4 started using a new compression format, making the frontend unable to automatically decompress saves. Either the new format should be supported, or a more clear error message should be added instead.

Fix the localisation code

The localisation for special characters still doesn't work perfectly. It is capable of reading special characters in the save file pathway, but not within the configuration file.

Add Troubleshooting view

Adding a view/page with troubleshooting help might cut down on the support requests.
It could contain a list of symptoms and, depending on the issue, either a button that fixes it (deleting map cache) or links to a forum post where someone explains how to fix the issue.
Some of the items in this list could be read from xml (if all they do is list symptoms and a link to a fix) but any automated fixes will probably have to be hard coded.
Furthermore, this should preferably be built in a way that supports the whole idea about not locking the frontend to any particular games.
Suggested items for troubleshooting list:
Clearing map cache for V2.
Crashing at converting history. See FAQ/First post.
MSVCP120.dll. See FAQ/First post.
Ironman save.
Compressed save.
Functionality for removing previous mods? See http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?707362-The-EU4-to-V2-Converter-Project&p=18851512&viewfull=1#post18851512
Open for more suggestions.

Handle userdir.txt for finding mod folders

Paradox games allow you to put a file called userdir.txt in the game folder that specifies a location for the documents folder. The frontend should support using this file to locate the mod folder for the converters.
