Yeah, Silent Hill 2 uses a different header.
I myself am not well versed in reverse engineering, I've just built on code that was already present from someone else. Maybe @Quaker762 can tell you more.

Hi lads,

@captswing sorry for the late reply mate, I've just started back at uni so I haven't had too much free time.
As @z33ky said, the SH2 textures are slightly different, though only the headers should be iirc, the data and what not should be the same. What exactly are you trying to achieve? Do you want to reverse the textures, display them etc.

If you're trying to reverse them, the best thing to do would be to dump the values from a bunch of different samples and look for differences/similarities and see if the values make any sense (for example, a value of 512 may be texture width or height). If you give me some filenames I can take a look at them when I've got some time (I have sh2 installed on my machine so I can look at them).

Chances are there are only minor differences, the engines are basically the same.
