Somehow, when a new character is created, the character's memory is eventually corrupted after the link-dead disconnect (a bit more than 2 hours of being logged in without typing commands, this occurs in limits.c in the check_idling function at line 803). The symptom of this problem is when the char_data struct has its master pointer set to 0x33. The problem seems to originate in the nanny function within interpreter.c at line 860 (which is a long hairy function), however, it may be a part of its initialization which is unique, leading to the memory corruption, since it seems to require the 2 hours before the memory corruption occurs. With the websockets interface, allowing users to stay logged in while idle seems to have exposed this error that had been hiding in the SillyMUD source code.
