MMDGenshin

Shader written for MMD to replicate the visual style of Genshin Impact

How to use:

Please see the wiki for this info
shader materials created for older versions of the shader will not work with this version. It is highly recommended that you remake them all together since this version of the shader is more accurate than the previous ones.
I will not provide any links or file downloads in this repository for texture or unity material files. You'll need to find those yourself.

Rules

  • You may distribute your edited material files but do not repackage the entire original shader. That means only the .fx file you load into mmd or mmm should be shared.
  • If you use this shader, credit me clearly where people can easily see it. You are not cool if you refuse to credit, youre not protecting some brand of yours... youre just being stupid
  • You are free to use this as a reference for your own shaders but just like above, credit me where it will be easily seen.

Credits and Thanks

  • Nvidia's SAS documentaion
  • Festivity for talkig about it with me and providing some code examples
  • Chips For providing some very helpful RenderDoc frame grabs and in general helping me with
  • 雪羽 Early on guidance for the first version of the shader.

Contact

  • If you find any bugs, feel free to create a new issue here or DM me on Twitter or on Discord ( manashiku ).
  • Don't dm me asking me to teach you how to use MMD or PMXEditor, there are resources online and I don't have the time nor the energy to teach everyone this stuff.

mmdgenshin's Issues

Black spots on fischl model even after troubleshooting/disabling effects

After troubleshooting I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the mesh/transparent parts of her clothes, but I have no idea how to fix it. As you can see, after I apply the shading effects (I only changed the materials for her face and hair in PMXE, since I thought maybe changing the clothes materials was the problem) the transparent parts of her outfit are completely black (first image is before adding the shaders, second image is after).

Then, when I try to disable that specific effect subset, it inverts the effect so the skin on her body turns completely black.

The same thing happens with the unedited Fischl model straight from aplaybox. Has this problem happened before, is there a solution?

Post Rimlight normal Error

While it's correct if you use Post Rim in MMM, In MMD the shader uses ADDUV4 (Custom Normals) Rather than the models actual normals, Which causes errors for Genshin models that don't have ADDUV4 to have no Rim Light and if there is an ADDUV4 the Rim doesn't look right.

Star Cloak

I'd like to ask, is it possible to replicate the star cloak of Paimon and Dainsleif in the 0.1.7 version of Genshin shader? If it is, how do I set the model? Because I added the cloak lightmap for Paimon as a sub-tex in PMX-editor but it doesn't seem to work

Outline Issue?

I have been trying to figure this out for a while, and I am not sure if I am doing something wrong somewhere... The outlines for the model will not show up no matter what I do.

I tried changing the Outline Width to "100.0f" and even that did not make it show up. Keeping the outlines I had set from PMX Editor got overwritten by the shader as well, which I figure is the function, but I thought to try it anyway just to make sure.

I will mention that I am using the aplaybox models, since I know this code was meant for models ripped straight from the game. I don't have the know-how to do that, though, so...

Anyway, yeah. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I really hope this gets seen ;-; I'm too nervous to contact anyone directly. I don't want to bother anyone. Especially if I am doing something completely and obviously wrong.
