Lack's Stock eXTension

IMPORTANT - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Some of the parts (see below) use some Squad textures. Unfortunately, in 1.5, some of the textures it uses have been moved into the zDeprecated directory, and are not directly accessible during loading. This causes some textures to be missing.

To address this, I've provided a pair of scripts, one to be used on Windows and the other to be used on both Linux & OSX. These only need to be run one time

Windows Instructions

Open the SXT folder in Windows Explorer Double-click on the file Windows_CopyTextures.bat (note that on most systems, you won't see the .bat)

Linux & OSX Desktop Instructions

Open the SXT folder Double-click on the file: BashCopyTextures.sh

Linux & OSX Terminal Instructions

Change to the GameData/SXT directory Type the following: bash BashCopyTextures.sh

This is a revival of the SXT - Stock eXTension mod, originally published by @Lack

Updated for 1.2. The truck had some parts redone and works well, it includes the Bounce dll from the WorldCup mod (for the airbags), and RetractableLiftingSurface, which I wrote to support the folding wing.

Given the size of this mod, I'm sure there will be some issues. Please let me know about them so that I can get them fixed.

LV-T80 "Robin" can't find the old T800 Textures

Loading stuck on SXTeFan

KSP: 1.4.3 64bit dx9

Problem: Loading gets stuck at SXT/Parts/Aviation/Engine/propEngines/eFan/SXTeFan. No crash occurs, the process isn't listed as not responding, the game just sits there until the process is killed.
EDIT: The game loads correctly without this part

Way to reproduce:
Put Small Reaction Wheel (0.625m) on top of the Probe and HyperEdit to a orbit.

Expected Behavior:
Always getting some energy from the Sun,
Never blocked by Small Reaction Wheel

Real Behavior:
Sun Exposure = 0 and Energy Flow = 0 (6 times),
Blocked by Small Reaction Wheel (2 times)


There is hack in the config, all covered solar panels are one ModuleDeployableSolarPanel, and as pictures show, it doesn't really work.

Patches are applied to Stock Mun Lander instead of SXT Mun Lander

Description
Some patches are applied to the stock MEMLander instead of the MEMLanderSXT.

Root cause
When the Munar Excursion Module was renamed from MEMLander to MEMLanderSXT in 5ffd417 to avoid conflicting with the stock Munar Excursion Module, the corresponding patches were not updated accordingly. Specifically SXT/Patches/ModCompatibility/SXT_TweakScale.cfg and SXT/Patches/ModCompatibility/CLS/CLS_StationsBases.cfg have the problem.

Impact
I do not run Connected Living Space, but I run TweakScale and this leads to the infamous double-tweakscale-module issue (which does not break Tweakscale anymore, but still produces an ugly warning when loading a craft in VAB/SPH) and an incorrect default scale for the stock MEMLander.

Fix
Obvious: replace MEMLander with MEMLanderSXT in the two files mentioned herebefore.

Additional information
The RealPlume config from KSP-RO/RealPlume-StockConfigs also uses the old name MEMLander. Specifically RealPlume-Stock/SXT Continued/MEMLander.cfg has the problem. I will open an issue over there referencing this one. Edit: done, see #83 in RealPlume StockConfigs.

Mini Goo texture

You MIGHT want to look at the mini-goo texture... Its a bit broken and you'll see why if its not just me

1.5.x functionality for Meadowlark pod

The Meadowlark Observation Pod requires "CrewCapacity = 2" to allow kerbals to be assigned to the jumpseats while in the VAB/SPH.

The Crew Report science experiment is not available when using this part as it "requires the {part} to be manned." I'm unaware of any way around this requirement when using external crew seats. There is a science storage container fitted to the pod which is therefore redundant, as there is no way for the crew to access it.

No other issues have been noted when using this pack in 1.5.x.

Update version file for KSP 1.10?

We've been using SXT in 1.10 with no issues (in the RO-verse) for...quite some time, and it would be awesome if the version file could be updated, that way CKAN could find it without having to add 1.8 compat. Bet stock players would like that too. :)

(Might be safe to go past 1.10 as well, not sure; we're still on 1.10.)

Bad AtmCurves

The RK-170 "Tsar-Pushka", LV-NX3 "NERVA", LV-405 "Vanguard" and LV-10-37 "Rearguard" engines' AtmosphereCurve keys do not extend to atmospheres denser than 1atm, meaning they are unaffected by thicker atmospheres like Eve's and gain a major advantage by not being affected by the thick atmospheres.

Similarly, the BBCV-4350 "Candle Wax" SRB's curve is also poorly configured, with the I^SP dropping substantially below zero and causing it to display significant negative thrust between 1.6 and 5.4atm. It does not appear to apply this thrust, however.

Multiple engines' models aren't centered

This doesn't affect the engine in any way though, because thrustTransform, and attachment nodes is in correct place. This is a purely cosmetic issue.

As you can see, the nozzle isn't aligned with centered cyllinder

EDIT:
K170/model25.mu (RE-M1 "Commodore") has a similar problem, but on the base of the engine. There is some offset on the bell too, but it's too small to be noticeable.

EDIT2:
J-2's model might be the worst offender in this mod. The 'gimbal' object, and therefore 'thrustTransform' are off center.

Space shuttle nose cones

Since 0.23 i have been updating "Space Shuttle Nose Cones" by Kamik up to date with KSP for my own use.
These nosecones have a small amount of monoprop, RCS jets and heat shielding designed to give manoeuvrability in space but also heat shielding for re/entry.

I've been thinking of releasing it but can't get a hold of author to get permission.

Issue with hatch and ladder on Entente cockpit

This is on a KSP 1.11.2 install running just the two dlc expansions and SXT version 0.3.29.7.

When attempting to EVA a Kerbal out from the Mk1-2 SST "Entente" Cockpit the Kerbal exits the hatch feet first and facing upwards. The Kerbal is then unable to grab hold of the built in ladder and simply falls off the cockpit.

Buzzard hatch and ladder sometimes don't work in 1.8

Once again, fine tuning of model behavior in KSP broke the Buzzard ladder and latch.

You can climb where the ladder should be but you can't hold on. This happens when the ladder is designated wrong or when the ladder is just out of reach. I suspect the later is the case.

Broken textures on certain parts

Certain parts seem to have broken textures in KSP 1.12.2, most notably on the Conformal Cone MK3, RCS booms, and Sputnik parts.
I tried on a clean install, using only SXT and its dependencies and the issue is still there.

ModuleEngines\multFlow field

ModuleEngines\multFlow is a float field, but it filled with false

0.625m fairing too heavy and expensive

  • The unit area mass and unit area cost are both much larger than even the 3.75m fairing, when they should be smaller than the 1.25m fairing.
  • Similarly the cost and entry cost are too expensive

Also, the description should be fixed to not say AE-FF3.

The 5m fairing unit area mass also seems a bit too heavy.

Tags (1.2 update?) should be added (probably just copy from stock fairing) for the 0.625m and 5m fairings.

It would also be nice to have the truss structure introduced in 1.2 added for the two fairings.

Take Command integration for SXT

Changing the Takecommand.cfg file to read (below) results in a kerbal spawning in the The EAS-316 "Meadowlark" Observation Pod seat as he should, but then gets ejected violently... most times dying.

Possibly because of clearance? The pod also has two seats, but only 1 can be assigned a crew member in the editor.

Downloading v 0.3.23.1
SXTContinued.version contains version info for 0.3.23.5 and is marked for 1.4.
Is it really 0.3.23.5 that's downloaded or is the version file wrong? Is this version fully compatible with 1.3?

Needs work for 1.5.x release

The prerequisites (Firespitter and Retractable Lifting Surfaces) now support 1.5.x and the mod now works fine.

The AVC version file just needs updating now for full 1.5.x support.

Not a high priority update, but not exactly a lot of work to do.

SXTmk3Cockpit52 Internal has ugly artifacts on the windows

Description
There are ugly vertical bars visible in the middle of the two front windows in the SXTmk3Cockpit52 (Mk3 "Marble-8") in IVA

Root cause
This cockpit uses the Internal module from the Kossak cockpit, but this does not match the window layout of the Marble-8: the Kossak internal has two front windows but the Marble-8 has three
As a result, the window frames from the Marble-8 appear as ugly vertical bars in the middle of the Kossak internal windows (you can tell because the bars light up when the cockpit lights are switched on)

Fix
I hacked the issue by moving the Internal module forward, so it clips through the window frames enough so that they are not visible: I set the Z offset to -3 instead of -2.55

The only remaining artifact is a glimpse of the (external) lateral window frames at the lower corner of the (internal) lateral windows; this artifact could be eliminated by moving the Internal module furter forward, but then it would not really correspond to the external model anymore, so I believe -3 is a good compromise

From what I can tell, the operation to change directory is failing. It might be better to presume that you are in the SXT directory, and work relative to there with fixed values instead of using a variable.
