playercountdiscordbot's Issues

[IDEA] Make the Server Status reflect the status of the bot.

Hey Gravity Wolf,

Been using your bot for a while now and really like it.

Would it be possible to have the player count bot say it offline when the server is offline? at the moment if the server is offline it just displays the last known player count.

Thanks mate

[BUG] Release 1.0.6.1 Missing System.Security.Cryptography.ProtectedData

Describe the bug
In the most recent release (1.0.6.1) when you run DiscordPlayerCountBot.exe the window will just close and no errors are displayed. If you run DiscordPlayerCountBot.exe in Powershell you get the following error.

PS C:\Users\UserName\Desktop\test> .\DiscordPlayerCountBot.exe Error: An assembly specified in the application dependencies manifest (DiscordPlayerCountBot.deps.json) was not found: package: 'System.Security.Cryptography.ProtectedData', version: '4.5.0' path: 'runtimes/win/lib/netstandard2.0/System.Security.Cryptography.ProtectedData.dll' PS C:\Users\UserName\Desktop\test>

This issue does not happen in version 1.0.6 as runtimes/win/lib/netstandard2.0/System.Security.Cryptography.ProtectedData.dll is included in this version.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Download version 1.0.6.1 of DiscordPlayerCountBot.zip from here.
  2. Run DiscordPlayerCountBot.exe
  3. Window will close with no error, if you run DiscordPlayerCountBot.exe via Powershell you get the error stated above.

Expected behavior
Application should launch, see there is no config file, create config file, and request the user to restart the program after setting up the config file.

[BUG] Instructions unclear, no .exe exists to begin installation?

The documentation advises when beginning to run the bot via an .exe in the /bin/ folder. However this doesn't exist in the release .zip download, and your installation instructions make no mention of how to create it?

I know there is probably an obvious solution to lifelong coders but to people with little experience like myself there seems to be no clear explanation.

Furthermore, all the other tutorial pages in the documentation show screenshots of code, with no mention of what file the code is in, or how to create said file. I am assuming, based on my use of previous releases, that this is a config.json created after the first run of the bot - but again, the only installation instructions seems to say "run a .exe" that doesn't exist in the main .zip download of this repository.

dynamic ip addresses[IDEA]

First of all....wow, great, worked immediately! Thank you!
I have a question...
My IP changes every day.
Is there a way to read it automatically (for example via a website like "whats my ip") and update it automatically?
Thanks!

Bot does not launch from CMD file

Attempting to launch the bot via a CMD file will result in the bot window opening with no text displayed and the discord bot does not display the current players, after closing and opening manually it will work, find below the launch method im using:

START C:"PATH TO EXE"\DiscordPlayerCountBot.exe

[BUG] Voice Channel Format Issue

Describe the bug
The channel title is changed when it is a voice channel and contains: / :

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create a bot that updates a voice channel
  2. Specify a format that contains the following characters: / :
  3. Observe the format for the voice channel is being changed as if it's a voice channel

Expected behavior
The format restrictions should only be on channels that are purely text.

[BUG]

After editing the config and starting the bot, it only shows "Playing Starting Bot watching:127.0.0.1:11111"

I have a random IP in the status here just for reference.
