codespaces-react's Introduction

GitHub Codespaces ♥️ React

Welcome to your shiny new Codespace running React! We've got everything fired up and running for you to explore React.

You've got a blank canvas to work on from a git perspective as well. There's a single initial commit with the what you're seeing right now - where you go from here is up to you!

Everything you do here is contained within this one codespace. There is no repository on GitHub yet. If and when you’re ready you can click "Publish Branch" and we’ll create your repository and push up your project. If you were just exploring then and have no further need for this code then you can simply delete your codespace and it's gone forever.

This project was bootstrapped for you with Vite.

Available Scripts

In the project directory, you can run:

npm start

We've already run this for you in the Codespaces: server terminal window below. If you need to stop the server for any reason you can just run npm start again to bring it back online.

Runs the app in the development mode.
Open http://localhost:3000/ in the built-in Simple Browser (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + P > Simple Browser: Show) to view your running application.

The page will reload automatically when you make changes.
You may also see any lint errors in the console.

npm test

Launches the test runner in the interactive watch mode.
See the section about running tests for more information.

npm run build

Builds the app for production to the build folder.
It correctly bundles React in production mode and optimizes the build for the best performance.

The build is minified and the filenames include the hashes.
Your app is ready to be deployed!

See the section about deployment for more information.

codespaces-react's Issues

Generate project with create-react-app on create container

I noticed that several pull requests were created to update packages. Faced with this situation, I would like to propose a solution to ensure that every new project always starts with a stable version of create-react-app.

My suggestion would be to check if there is already an axios project created whenever a new container is created. If there is no project created, then the solution would be to create a project with create-react-app, using the most stable version of React. That way, we would ensure that all new projects start with the latest and most stable version of React.

Git: command 'github.codespaces.publish' not found

Opening this to draw more attention to this issue, shown here (https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/67031)

I'm trying to publish my codespaces branch to a private repository, but after clicking publish branch, the following error is shown:

Git: command 'github.codespaces.publish' not found

I can't seem to find anything on the internet on this, so I am making this.

The template I used for this codespace was (https://github.com/theodorusclarence/ts-nextjs-tailwind-starter)

Any ideas? Thank you

npm run dev not working in Codespaces

Does codespace host files locally?
When attempting to use npm run dev in a Codespaces environment, the command fails to execute as expected. This behaviour is inconsistent with typical npm behaviour and appears to be specific to the Codespaces environment. The codespace gives an output message in the terminal that the project is hosted at localhost, but there seems to be an issue with that.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open a Codespaces environment with a Node.js project.
  2. In the terminal, run the command npm run dev.

Expected Behavior:
The npm run dev command should execute and start the development server as specified in the project's package.json file.

Actual Behavior:
