pack3d's Issues

Pseudo code for binpack

Hi
Can you share pseudo code or algorithm for binpack implementation ? And are you using item Bvh for binpack or using the item Aabb instead. Thanks

Endless loop

I ran the command:

./binpack 4 helmet.stl 2 Pharaoh.stl 10 Utah_teapot_solid.stl

But it took forever at this stage:

loading mesh... 148.879948ms
loading mesh... 86.407924ms
loading mesh... 1.248878ms
bin packing...

Location

As far as I check by stepping through the code with debugger, the location of the endless loop is the recursive call to this function at this file and line:

// github.com/fogleman/pack3d/binpack/pack.go

func pack(items []Item, box Box, hash *SpatialHash, minVolume Vector) Result {
	// ...
				r[j] = pack(items, b[i][j], hash, minVolume) // Line 117
	// ...
}

hollow objects fill space possible?

for example would it be possible to have say a bucket shape with open top and several small objects and pack the small object in the free space in the hollow bucket? currently it seems to treat the object as solid and packs around, works great thou, just wondered if it was possible to detect freespace in hollow objects?

Thanks

different printer bed size

Good morning,
i would like to use this pack3d script with my printer but i cant find the variable which defines the printer bed volumen. Could you please tell me where to find it?
This is some really great code work you did there.

greetings
Gerhard
