The plugin works as intended when opening a directory or a single image (and eog loading the rest of the images in the directory), but the functionality breaks down when eog is launched with a selection of files. For example:

eog .

Loads all images of the current directory, it works.

eog single-file.jpg

Loads all the images of the current directory, it works.

eog first-file.jpg second-file.jpg

Loads the two specified images, when renaming second-file.jpg to last-file.jpg the image file gets renamed but that change is not reflected in eog and if you go to other image and return, the image doesn't load because it seems it's still looking for the old filename.

Running eog 3.36.3 on Ubuntu 20.04.
