Well, it has something to do with my setup. I tried a fresh install in VM installed with the latest Debian and it worked fine.

I would see if arch does anything funny with their perl install I guess

I put a fix in for both OS's that caused issues while Perl was re-initializing.
If you still have the platform available that was causing these issues, try and cause the crash again.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the platform on which to test this.
I suggest that someone close this issue since it may have been specific to my system.
