In the same vein of the "made for matrix" badge, i think a "Powered by Matrix" badge would also be really helpful to use.

Reasoning

"Powered by" is different than "Made for", with the latter implying that a particular solution was made to hook into an existing matrix ecosystem, while the former implies that it utilizes the protocol for it's own usecase, potentially adding more to the ecosystem.

To put it another way; "Made for" implies one's drive to make it was matrix specifically, while "Powered by" implies one's drive is external, but matrix helped them get there, using it as a platform.

Thank you very much for your good work at matrix and Riot.im, which I really appreciate. You all have done a great job!

I really don't want to offend someone, but I find the icon of Riot.im quite ugly. First of all I know I am only one random guy having that opinion and other people might find the Riot-icon nice. But a few friends of mine also agree that this nice app would need a better icon. Secondly I know exactly that changing one brand's icon is changing the brand itself. That is a very sensitive topic. So don't mindunderstand me: I don't want to force you anywhere.

Butr after two hours and talking with a friend I created an icon, which I use now on my MacOS for Riot and it works quite well for me - in the dock as well as in the notifications.

Here it is:

That new icon is CC-BY licensed (by matias porta lezcano and Rasmus Fuhse). The fist is an icon from the noun project. I just wrapped it in an R and fixed the color. All messengers at MacOS seem to be blue, so I took almost the same color.

Just take it as a contribution or an inspiration or simply ignore it. It's up to you.

Icon as a pdf

Looking for the latest official and most simplified version of Riot symbol (for monotone and smallscale use). Came across this which appears to be in the webapp presently: https://github.com/vector-im/logos/blob/master/riot/1901%20-%20Simple%20refresh.sketch, however theres only the sketch assets available.

I've opened this with an older sketch, the assets within are not fully expanded/flattened and contain some construction issues (this may be caused from version difference).

Having guidelines on how Riot/matrix/etc should be branded when advertising a particular deployment would help a lot.

Some leeway in this would also be nice. For instance, our site design prefers black and white logos where Riot is advertised. Without brand guidelines it's hard to say whether or not what we've done is okay (modified logo below).

The "made for matrix" badge was only featured on the blog, but never added here.

• Figure out appropriate licenses for the assets in this repo
• Assign them to repo/assets/readme

At least the matrix logo I would hope would be under some sort of permissive license, maybe CC0

Can you please upload and provide the Matrix logo at https://fontawesome.com/ . This way it could be easily used on homepages and blogs all around the WWW.
