In the following example I get the wrong result because I added a space betwen f and (0).
f(x):=2*x+1
f (0) = 0 // Note the space between f and (0)
f (x) =f*x // The problem is that wordmat interprets space as a multiplication
Ideally wordmat should discover that f has previously been defined to be a function, and therefore the space does not mean multiplication.
space_between_f_and_(0).docx
It says that MikeTex is not installed when I already have it. And also, this happens with other programms like Geogebra, Graph, etc.
Hi Michael
Here is an other one. Wordmat freezes if I write spaces between "\partial/\partial x" and "f(x,y)". It more or less looks like this, but look at the attached example file
f(x,y):=x^2+y^2
\partial/\partial x f(x,y) //this works
\partial/\partial x f(x,y) //This causes wordmat to freeze
Kind regards
Niels
I am sorry to spam you with issues, but here is another one
f(x)=x^2 // Note that I did not write :=
f'(2) // wordmat freezes when I press alt-b here
Note that the function has not been defined, so wordmat cannot calculate f'(2), but ideally wordmat should not freeze
If I change the "=" in the first equation to ":=" then I get f'(2)=4 as expected

Given an equation of the form
x = expression
where x is free in expression, students ought to click "evaluate",
but often they (to much chagrin of the teacher) click "solve equation".
Since it is easy to determine whether an expression is free of the variable
to solve for, I suggest that solving such an equation automatically
switches to "evaluate" (or perhaps prompts the student).
Example:
Solving x=1+2
currently leads to this output:
x=1+2
solved by Wordmat
x=2
I suggest the following output instead:
x=1+2 ~ 3

I've tried with 4 different Office 365 installations. Tried with version 16.43(20110804), 16.44(20121301), 16.45(21011103) and also 16.46(21021202) - and it seems all software versions are not accepting WordMat.
WordMat is reporting "error" during calculations, and after several error messages, WordMat is aborting.
I'm using the latest Mac M1 architecture as MacBook Pro M1 and Mac Mini M1, both with the same result, which may not have support for WordMat.
When do you have the next version of WordMat available?
Does this version have support for M1?
Altså i celle J20:
Tilsvarende for binomhigh.
Hi
When I try to install Wordmat on Word from Office 365 version 2101 I get an error message saying that only version xxxx is supported.
Menu: Omskriv -> Faktoriser.
Tak
First of all: @Eduap-com, huge applause and thanks for the M1 update!
Preparing for my math class I stumbled upon a bug when solving 2 equations with 2 unknown.
I get [x,y] ∈ Ø.
Hi Michael
I have some problems with using comma as argument separator when calculating partial derivatives of functions of two variables in wordmat. Here is an example
f(x,y):=x^2+y^2
f_x'(x, y) = 2*x
f_x'(2, 3) = 4,6 // I had expected either 2*2=4 or an error

Mvh,

Here is a file that can cause wordmat to freeze if I press ctrl-B the wrong place.
freeze_when_calculating_derivative.docx
If I press ctrl-B in an equation containing a derivative f'(x) then word will sometimes rewrite the equation to place '(x) in the exponent. This can lead to an equation that wordmat cannot parse.
I have a MacBook Pro from 2018 with the Intel chipset, and my Word just crashes whenever trying to calculate an expression. I read in the FAQ that this version isn't supported yet, but I would like to know when a possible release date is due?
Have tried all morning to install Wordmat
win10 64bit
office 2016 64 bit
Anti virus has been deactivated during install
Porgram has been run as administrator
Wordmat is shown in Word and I can write functions but as soon as I click Calculate (Beregn) it crashes saying that Wordmat was not installed correct
Example: typing f'(2)
and pressing alt+b when f is not defined, causes word to crash.
Wordmat version: 1.22
Platform: Windows 10 2004
Wordmat crash.docx
WordMat doesn't work on the new MacOS Monterey version. When I try to do any calculation, Word freezes and the ram usage explodes. Word is also stuck at 100% CPU usage. Seems like it's the "sbcl" process that causes this, which i believe is Maxima. It also seems like the Maxima version included in WordMat is from 2016 :/
Hopefully this is an easy fix, so I can get back to using this tool at school :)
Hello there,
I'm using the command "insert numbered equation for reference" with a numbering type as (1.5). The obtained reference is: "Equation 1".
How may I have "Equation 1.5"?
Thanks

I think that there is a small mistake in the formula for confidence interval for p in the binomial test excel sheet
I assume that
If that is true then I think that you should use \hat p = r/N (cell C4) to when calculating the confidence interval for p. The idea is that you use the number of observed successes in the sample to construct a confidence interval. Once this interval is constructed, then you can test a null hypothesis H0:´p=p0, by examining if po is contained in the confidence interval. In other words the confidence interval is independent of constant p0 from the null hupothesis, Here is a video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2KRNFk8oEA
I realize that wordmat is also doing a meaningful calculation, but I don't think that it is consistent with formula for "confidence interval for p" in the official curriculum.
It is probably not a good idea to change this shortly before the exams that may or may not take place this summer....
PS: The observed number of successes use usually called r or \hat x. \mu usually denotes the true mean. (Edited)
So as my title says, wordmat got identified as a trojan horse, what should I do about this?

Hello
I am using windows. My school got office. Lately i deleted everything from my computer and starting reinstalling everythingg. When i downloaded Office, I got the usual, word, excel, powerpoint and so on. But when I installed wordmat, an error appeared. You can see it in the attached files. It translates to "You haven't installed Excel 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016. Installation canceled. I've got Excel downloaded, and it works fine. I have even installed older versions of Wordmat, and also reinstalled the Office several times. I keep getting this error. Hope I can get some help :)
Chromebooks are perfect computers for students... Except for the lack of wordmat
Big issue for schools
If I use \sqrt
to write a square root in wordmat and try to copy it using ctrl-c, then wordmat freezes. This is what I write to create an "uncopyable equatiion".
<alt-m> \sqrt <space> (13) <alt-B>
I don't know if this is really a wordmat error, because I can sometimes reproduce the error if I uninstall wordmat and load the document again
Note that if I use the menu to create square-roots then I don't get a freeze, so I wonder if wordmat somehow adds a special character trat causes problems. Here is an example file
sqrt_causes_freeze_when_copying_text.docx
At some point when working with the document I got an asd-file and I think that I got a message that the document was damaged. I don't completely remember the details, but I attached the asd-file
Here is an idea. It could great to have a menu item (or hotkey) to simply an expression numerically.
Right now the students can achieve the same by choosing
This solution works, but sometimes students forget to switch back to "automatic", and this causes problems in later calculations. I think that my idea might be easier to teach.
Here is an example where wordmat interprets 1/3(-2)^3 as (-2/3)^3, but the student meant to write 1/3*(-2)^3
