munge install to user-defined prefix about munge HOT 5 CLOSED

Can you please provide the steps to reproduce the problem (e.g., the full command lines for configure and make) as well as the distro/release on which you're running?

Sorry, was in rush. Here is the proper issue report:

What steps will reproduce the problem?

mkdir munge-reproduce
cd munge-reproduce
wget https://munge.googlecode.com/files/munge-0.5.11.tar.bz2
tar -xjvf munge-0.5.11.tar.bz2
cd munge-0.5.11
./configure --prefix=/home/artpol/tmp/munge-reproduce/munge-install/
make
make install

Note that:

1. Directory /home/artpol/tmp/munge-reproduce/munge-install/ doesn't exist. I expect build system to create and fully populate it.
2. Installation should be done under my regular user without asking for root privileges.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expect: make install to complete successfully. Get instead:

/usr/bin/install: cannot create regular file '/lib/systemd/system/munge.service': Permission denied
make[3]: *** [install-data-local] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/artpol/WORK/Development/SLURM/mpi_plugin/src/munge-patch/munge-0.5.11_old/src/etc'

What version of the software are you using? On what operating system?

munge-0.5.11 on Linux Mint 17. Also was reproduced on one of the latest Fedora installation, but can't provide exact version now.

P.S. Using the patch, that I have attached I was able to force munge do what I want.

Ugh, I actually have a commit for this sitting on a dev branch that I forgot to push. I'll be pushing it shortly. Please let me know if it doesn't work on Linux Mint 17.
