ios-app-signer's Introduction

iOS App Signer

This is an app for OS X that can (re)sign apps and bundle them into ipa files that are ready to be installed on an iOS device.

Supported input types are: ipa, deb, app, xcarchive

Usage

This app requires Xcode to be installed, it has run successfully on the new macOS 12 Monterey.

You need a provisioning profile and signing certificate, you can get these from Xcode by creating a new project.

You can then open up iOS App Signer and select your input file, signing certificate, provisioning file, and optionally specify a new application ID and/or application display name.

ios-app-signer's Issues

Cannot open iOS app signer

I copy the .app (after extracting the zip file) to the /Applications folder.
When opening the first time, mac os warns me about the app not being from a certified developer, yada, yada... I press "Open".
App keeps bouncing in tray and never opens.

The same happens if I try to open the app outside of /Applications folder.

OS: 10.11.2
Xcode: 7.2 (7C68)

I have my own free and personal team and also enrolled on an enterprise team.
For both I have the dev certificates and provisional profiles setup.

Pls let me know if I can provide further information.

Thanks!

No codesigning certificates found!

Whenever I try to launch the program I get that error.
I've attempted to use Xcode with 3 different (free)Apple IDs even creating a new one. What am I missing?
Thanks for any help.

App Signer Doesn't update new provisional profiles

I can create new projects within Xcode, (I am a paid developer), and the names won't pop up inside the provisional profile list. I've opened and closed it, downloaded all the certificates, uninstalled and reinstalled Xcode as well the the signer app. Please help?

Xcode7.2 swift before 2.2

My Xcode version is 7.2 so i find a problem when i run it.The problem is from MainView.swift where #selector();
Before swift 2.2 the usage of selector is Selector().
Replace it and get it.
Good luck!

Error processing deb file

I keep getting this "error processing deb file" on almost every deb file. and i wonder if i can fix it some way

macOS Sierra: Invalid Provisioning Profile

screen shot 2016-06-14 at 2 59 13 pm
Since updating to macOS Sierra (Build) 16A201, I'm unable to sign applications using a provisioning profile, although before downloading the beta, this was not an issue.

Thank you so much for all your hard work.

Valid Provisioning Profile Not Found

When trying add an IPM to my iPad I get the error message "A valid provisioning profile was not found for this executable." I am using Xcode 8.2.1 with App Signer 1.9 on Sierra 10.12.2. The deb I am using is for the Kodi iPad/iPhone software that lots of people have already installed. I've recreated my provisioning profiles several times and tried everything I can think of with no errors received during the App Signer run. Any ideas of were else I can look or what else to try?

Wont sign Veency

I am attempting to sign Veency to install on an iPhone. Veency is at

Because of the advice in #23 I have also added an empty Applications folder (using tar and ar commands) into this deb file. Here is the actual .deb file I am attempting to use with ios-app-signer:

This fails with the following Application Log output:

Re-signed applications crash at launch

Hello,

Here is my problem:
I download a .ipa from the AppStore (Tap Tap 4 or SpeedSmart).
I use iOSAppSigner to re-sign it with my certificate and provisioning profile.
I send it to my iPhone (9.3.3), it accepts to install it, no error message.
However, when I try to launch the application, I see the splashscreen for .5 second and then it crashes.

I think I followed carefully your instructions, I don't understand why it doesn't work :/ .

Thank you very much!

Resign app with PlugIns folder

As far as I could test, the appex is signed with the same bundle-identifier as the main app which could lead to wrong execution of appex in PlugIns folder, apple watch appex maybe included.

Get codesigner error and failure to fix signing certificate

After building Kodi last week or so, I got an error on my Apple TV (4) that says that "Kodi is not available". After some googling, I expect it was because my initial ("trial") Apple Developer account expired, so I signed up for a year.
I went back into Xcode and tried to rebuild the Kodi image (.ipa) from the same project where I had built it before. Then I got the code singer error (see screen shots below). I removed (I think the term is "revoked") the local certificates in the file system and also in Xcode (Xcode>Preferences>Accounts). Nothing removes this error. Help!

I appear to have an error

Can I use it via terminal?

Hello,

I was thinking to sign via command line. I am an automation tester trying to run ipa using Appium (Appium.io)

Is it possible to sign via the command line using ios-app-signer?

mass resign

@DanTheMan827 i have a question about this code i want to sign more than one app at a time is it possible to make it sign all apps in one folder if so how would i go about this?

Signing an IPA with a watch extension

When I try to install it I get "The app contains a WatchKit app with an invalid bundle identifier. The bundle identifier of a WatchKit app must have a prefix consisting of the companion app's bundle identifier, followed by a '.'."

Is it possible to automatically change a watchkit's bundle id as well?

Signing large ipa error

When i want sign large ipa (2GB) aplication stops with "Error extracting ipa file" message.
I commented case "ipa": part in source and extracted payload by hand.
Proccess finished with success.

App Signer Won't Sign Apps

When I click start it starts to process the ipa, but then I get the following error:

ERROR VERIFYING CODE SIGNATURE!
/var/folders/w7/h7_kf9191ts1bjth93rl7y700000gn/T/com.DanTheMan827.AppSigner.attQNDYW/out/Payload/Test App.app: invalid Info.plist (plist or signature have been modified)
In architecture: armv7

I am even trying this on an app I copied from my phone and running it without doing any modifications to it, but still getting the same error.

Any advise how to resolve this issue?

7 day workaround for Kodi?

macOS Sierra 10.12.2 beta 3

I'm not sure if Sierra 10.12.2 beta 3 broke iOS App Signer but I changed nothing and now I get "You appear to have a error with your codesigning certificate, do you want me to try and fix the problem?" but it can't fix it. I didn't change anything at all with the profile and it has worked without issue before.

Code sign certificate not found?

Yesterday, 21 hours ago, I was able to create signed IPAs to side load. Now, I can't seem to get my signing cert anymore. How to fix?

no provisioning profile

Hello,

No provisining profile is visible on list.
I'have try to use exported .mobileprovision file, but ios-app-signer can parse the file, but i don't have more logs...
I join the file.

Codesigning error

I'm getting the following error when trying to run the app signer:

Codesigning error

You appear to have a error with your codesigning certificate, do you want me to try and fix the problem?

I'm running El Capitan and XCode 7.3 with a free Apple Developer account. Version 1.8 of iOS App Signer.

Tried running the fix option but not effective.

Xcode 8 Signing for tvOS 10

With the Developer preview of Xcode 8 and tvOS 10 (on OSX El Capitan v10.11.5), I am unable to successfully sign an ipa using the same credentials used before on older versions of xcode and tvOS.

When I say unsuccessfully, I mean, app signer seems to complete and generate the IPA, but when I try and transfer it to the device, I get the error "A Valid profile could not be found" But, I can turn around and run the same project in xcode using the same settings for the profile and dev account, and the app opens on the device just fine.

One thing in Xcode 8 is different around the Code signing area. on older projects you will have a "Provisioning Profile" selection and a "Provisioning Profile (Deprecated)" selection.

cannot open application

i get either of the two error messages when attempting to open the application, even after changing the file name to not include periods (so that the file isn't interpreted as a ".Signer" file instead of ".app")

  1. You can’t open the application “iOS.App.Signer” because it may be damaged or incomplete.
  2. You can’t open the application “iOS.App.Signer” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

machine specs:
13" macbook pro, mid-2012
2.9gHz i7, 16GB RAM
OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

App crashes when signing

I first had the same problem as #7 but when I added the sleep command it opened but I still get some other error when trying to sign the latest kodi version.

Sign python eggs

Could you add a feature where it looks for *.egg files in our app bundle, extracts them (unzip) and sign the usual binaries (same as for the bundle) found in the extracted folder, then repack it to the former egg file?

If you have done this right you should be able to use the open weathermap addon on non-jailbroken devices (which should fail currently because of trying to load the unsigned pythonmodule-pil which is contained in the Pillow egg).

Would be a great addition (also for the tvos future)

Payload directory doesn't exist

When i try to resign an IPA that i have repacked (using Mac Compression Utility) i get this error: "Payload directory doesn't exist".
Any suggestions?
Obviously the Payload folder is present.
I think is something related to the compression level used by Mac.

Cannot open ios-app-signer

I used ios-app-signer for kodi.
Today I got update from ios-app-signer, I downloaded it and overwrite on existing one.
But when I clicked new version, "Cannot open this application".
That was no problem with security on control panel, and I cannot get any more information.
I'm in panic, please help me. I even reinstall all of my Xcode.

OS : 10.11.4
Xcode : 7.3(7D175)

fatal error: does not contain a matching architecture for specified '-a arm64 51072' option

I continue to get this same error... I am using XCODE 8, and I'm experimenting by resigning an IPA pulled from my iPhone 5 running iOS 8.4.1. The weird thing is that if I actually build an IPA in XCODE and then resign it, everything works perfectly. I am totally lost, any suggestion would be really appreciated.
Here's the output from the console:

Resigned App crashes on lockscreen with password on iOS10

Hi,

i noticed when i take the iPA of Deezer Music (ID:292738169) and resign a decrypted Version with ios App Signer the App crashes a few seconds after the lockscreen is shown (other people are reporting it only happens with password set.).
The same iPA signed with cydia impactor doesn't crash.

So maybe iOS APP Signer doesn't resign all the needed binaries?

remote sign using ssh
