Yes, this is working as intended. The book updates every hour. The revision data is provided by the commit hash next to the date.

Does it not make more sense to show the commit date instead? Seeing today's date is of no value.

The reason it's there is for printed/downloaded copies, so the user can know how old their copy is. It was introduced before the git integration, so I agree a git date could be more useful. I'll implement it.
