There was a description in the old wiki, but unfortunately that's gone. It has been copied to GitHub wiki, so the content is still accessible, but it's quite dated already:

This should receive some documenting love, because the generator has evolved quite a lot.

As you already noted, it's more of a programmer's view of things, rather than user manual.
