HLA-NoVR

The easiest to use and most flexible NoVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx!

This mod makes the entire game playable, with many VR interactions preserved in some form for a flat screen.

Installation

Install the official launcher.

jflorian27 keybinds

Not work E or Delete Interact function https://github.com/bfeber/HLA-NoVR/tree/jflorian27

In the button settings you kept the old key layout and added new ones, so for example walking on the arrow keys works, but also on the w,a,s,d keys, but somewhere you made a mistake because the Interact function doesn't work on the E or Delete keys. If I put your original mod in without modifying HLA-NOVR-Script-Update-6.1 then Interact works on the E key.Without this function you can't play.Your key settings you made for me are useless if Interact doesn't work.If you could somehow make the old key settings work but also the new ones you made for me a lot of people would be happy because then everyone can choose whether they want to play the classics via w,a,s,d or the arrow keys.At least then everyone wouldn't have to look for where to download other control settings.

Suggestion: get rid of zoom

I am not sure that zoom is necessary for HL Alyx because, as we know, Alyx doesn't have H.E.V. This function just doesn't suit game lore.

a3_c17_processing_plant bugs

  • Health station right before the distillery makes you stuck in one place during the healing process

  • The moving platform missing all the collision except for the wooden pallet and the concrete bag

  • Covering your mouth would not show Alyx's hand, only removes your viewmodel (intentional?)

Viewmodel FOV?

This might not need to be a new feature, but changing the viewmodel fov or just increasing it a bit by default could be good

also is there any way of doing this as of rn? via console? I cant manage to get the console open by using -console

Softlock in chapter 2

the box that allows me to get into the room with the control panel in chapter 2 glitched after I just jumped on it and got out of the map, softlocking me outside the room that allows me to progress

Cant even use the menu

I cant even use the menu? this has zero instructions other than how to install, but not how to run or use

Polish weapon upgrades

addition of alt weapon fire - will likely be added in conjunction with the fabricators being updated

Menú not working

Just installed the mod, changing the files inside the game folder and added the -novr on launch, but I can't make the menu work:

Suggestion: Add functional ladders

Ideally, it would be great to have animation with Alyx's hands climbing up or down a ladder.

Plan-minimum is to make ladders work like in HL2.

Controls from you other than the basic one no longer work after the update

Recently you made us a different control for the game than the basic one you made.Then even in the game it worked on the keys of both the basic and the new control you made for me.But when I update your mod it doesn't work anymore.Is it possible to tell me what to do so I can always insert my own control for the game after the update.Thank you very much for your help.

Weapon Enhancement Device

Weapon Enhancement Device when I insert a weapon into it and the menu for weapon upgrade appears so if I don't put 9 cancel and I don't select anything quickly from the menu then when the menu disappears I can't take my weapon back from the weapon upgrade device.Even if I press the E button there.Unfortunately I can put the last saved position so that the menu doesn't disappear or I put 9 cancel and take the weapon out of the device before the menu disappears.

pak is corrupt

hi, hello, i just installed the new update 2 version but it gives me the error : pak file is corrupt, then it automatically verifies hl alyx, could you please help me out?? i would love to play the game with no vr, thank you!!

Cannot call the lift up

Found the blue card, killed headcrabs that spawn near lift. I assume I need to go down using this lift, but cannot call it by pressing E.
Reloading game doesn't fix this issue.

How to increase the text size on the subtitle???

I have a problem reading the text height of 2mm on my 4K screen...I open this case because I see that nobody had reported it yet...I have Half Life Alyx version [Update 1.5.4] +[NoVR mod] with Spanish subtitles activated in a large and wide size but they do not correspond to the screen resolution... is this happening to anyone else? I look forward to your comments and thank you very much for everything!

Softlock in Fairview

At the Fairview train station, near the end of chapter 3 (I guess), it's impossible to pick the circular item up. When I press E, it rotates on itself, like if it already were in the terminal.

Instruction or warning

I think you should warn that the script breaks the mechanics of the game if you run it in a virtual reality helmet. So that people either make a duplicate of the original files before installing it, or add a folder with the original content to the archive. So that a stupid person (a layman) does not have to do a cache check on Steam afterwards.

Implement Alyx HUD

How to document problems?

Hey everyone,
first of all, tremendously wonderful project, I've played through the game already in VR but playing it again with KBM is quite a different experience!

I was wondering how I could document some of the issues I'm encountering playing through the game. Should there just be new issues per problem, are there things that are "out of scope" for this project?

For example: I've noticed that I can't really interact with the upgrade machines, it's such a big thing of the experience that I figured it's already on some list, but I wasn't sure if creating an issue makes sense.

Suggestion: Add item manipulation in hands

Taking any object in hand, by means of the default key "E", so that it can be manipulated - that is, rotated in different directions.

We pick up any object, as an example, let it be a mug. While the item is in the hands, scrolling the mouse wheel up / down, the item will rotate accordingly, up / down. And if at the same time hold down the right mouse button and start turning the mouse wheel up / down, then the object will already rotate horizontally to the right / left. And also, while the item is in the hands, if you hold down the "Z" key and start turning the mouse wheel up / down, the item will be pulled towards Alyx or move away from it.

Such manipulation with objects in the hands would greatly simplify the task of obtaining the "Good Grub" achievement - turned the container with food into the right position, shook it over the jar with the Snark's, and now the achievement has been received.

That such interactivity - the manipulation of objects in the hands, in general, should not interfere with the gameplay in any way while the player is moving along the storyline.

Add sprint stamina

But keep the option to sprint on 'Shift' button. Sprint speed should be like in this video, I guess: https://youtu.be/sBt7Tnwm62Y

Also, I think it is NOT a good idea for the sprint to be endless. Alyx is a human without H.E.V. suit, so she can get exhausted and, if it happened, she need some time to recover. Besides, it would be great for overall game experience, so that players could not spam sprint all the time, which makes the game easy to pass.
