DEI Project Badging

About DEI Project Badging

The DEI Project Badging Initiative is a CHAOSS that awards badges to open-source projects that demonstrate diversity and inclusion. This initiative promotes leadership, self-reflection, and self-improvement on issues critical to building the Internet as a social good.

The DEI project badges help open source project maintainers showcase their ongoing commitment to improving and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

How does DEI Project Badging work?

  • Open Source projects submit their project repository containing a DEI.md file. Check out what a DEI.md file entails and how to create one here.

  • The project badging scanner bot will search through the DEI.md file in the specified repository for evidence of required metrics.

  • Once the scan is complete, the project will receive a markdown snippet that can be included in the README.md as an image of the DEI Project Badge earned.

  • Upon the conclusion of each badging level, the project receives an inclusive language report on how to improve its DEI efforts in order to apply for and earn the next badging level. Badging process

Contributing to this Project

This is a living repository, meaning we are very open to changes and improvements. We follow the GitHub pull-request workflow. More details on specifically what that means can be found in the CONTRIBUTING.md file. If you would like to contribute but aren't sure how to go about doing so, please reach out to the community on Slack or Elizabeth Barron (@ElizabethN). We are happy to help!

Don't forget to give the project a star! Thanks again!

Acknowledgments

Our heartfelt gratitude to all the maintainers of this project. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to maintain and nurture this project.

eventbadging's Issues

[Landing Page] : Implement mobile responsiveness

Welcome onboard....
Here's an opportunity to contribute to our Badging Website.

The landing page is not mobile friendly and does not look good on different devices screen size.
You are required to inspect the UI design here and provide an updated version your work by cloning the main branch.

Extra Modifications

  • Hide/Show all necessary features, i.e, navigation and search icon, as clearly seen in our figma design
  • Implement a carousel design for the Testimony Section of the landing page for mobile screen only.
  • Add the search field in the footer section
  • Enable clickable event for the FAQ items too, it should not be restricted to the arrow icon.

Your final work must look like this

Mobile Grid

If you want this task to be assigned to you, kindly inform us via the comment section.
Thank you for your contribution!

Create FAQ Content

There is still place holder content in the FAQ section that needs to be changed to the real content. @Ruth-ikegah and @Maryblessing you can either take this up or guide anyone who will take it up with what kind of content should be there.

Create Testimonial Content

@ElizabethN and @germonprez we request that you collect three testimonials of twenty words or less from random event organizers that have applied for badging before. This testimonial is just to highlight how DEI Badging has been of impact or importance to them so that we can put it on our website at https://badging.chaoss.community. We would need a small image that we can use for their profile picture or we can use one from any of their socials like LinkedIn. They should also be notified that we are going to use it for website purposes. Is it possible to get this information or in the first place is it relevant?

Change position and responsiveness of the footer

As of this commit -> 0c8420d, the footer is in the wrong position. Look at this deployed version of that commit.

In this issue, you are required to;

  • Change the position of the footer to the bottom of the page
  • Change the Mobile responsiveness of the footer to correspond with the design in this Figma file
  • Make sure the CHAOSS logo in the footer is completely visible

Animate the Testimonial Section

Due to the fact that there will be more testimonial cards in the testimonial section on the landing page, there is a need to design the cards such that they can be scrolled horizontally both in desktop and mobile view. This should be implemented in a carousel kind of design

Revamp Footer

Create separate commits for the following changes:

  1. Change the styling of the header so that the content in the community and the join us section doesn't have the showless/show more options at the end
  2. Change the CHAOSS Community words in the copyright section to a link to https://chaoss.community
  3. Under the Quick Links Section, point the FAQs to FAQ section in the home page
  4. Add another Project Badging Quick link to point to https://badging.allinopensource.org
  5. Correct the logo on the top left of the footer to look similar to this
  6. Properly center the content so that it doesn't look different on the different screen sizes
  7. Remove the DEI logo at the bottom of the socials

[Event Badging Page]: Implement page features and Import component(s)

Welcome onboard....
Here's an opportunity to contribute to the "Event Badging Page" of the Badging Website.

The "Event Badging Page" descriptively outlines, and highlight the prerequisites required to apply for a badge. It is an important part of this website, and we have created the perfect user interface to ease its implementation.
Kindly ensure that your design is not only mobile friendly, but also aligns with this UI and neatly responsive to different screen sizes.

Reusable Components

The following sections of the Event Badging Page must be designed independently, and imported into their respective sections:

  • Motivation To Apply Section
  • Submit Your Event for DEI Badge Section

Note: Ensure you check if these components have already been designed before creating them. Kindly import them into this page if they have already been created.

You are required to inspect the UI design here and provide an updated version your work by cloning the main branch.

Your final work must look like this:

Graphic needed: CHAOSS Retractable Banner

Hi Design Team ๐Ÿ˜

We are going to be hosting our first booth at open source conferences this year and we need some signage. In particular, we are looking at getting this retractable banner printed (in the 33"x81" size).

Is there anyone that would be interested in designing a generic "CHAOSS" banner that would have the CHAOSS logo and basic design elements of our slide deck and website?

If so, here's a PDF template (I also have an .ai file too).
pdf-template.pdf

We are looking to have this ready to go to the printer by June 30, 2023.

Thank you! โค๏ธ

Implement the `About us` Page

Design the about us page with proper routing.

  • All assets are in the src/assets folder. If an asset is missing, consider adding it to only the asset folder with proper naming.
  • Do not include the Submit your Event for a DEI Badge section (the one above the footer in the about section) because that is going to be a component of its own.

For now, use all the content that is there but soon some content will be changed and you should not worry about that and exclude the Motivation to Apply section since it will be a component of its own (refer to #61)

Graphic for 100th Badge Needed

Hi! We are almost at the 100th badge awarded, so it would be great if this is something we can highlight on our blog and twitter. Would it be possible to get a graphic of some kind to help us celebrate 100 badges awarded? THANK YOU!!
