@indcoder Agreed that this is a good idea. Fortunately, it is already implemented!
You can set you preferred editor through the EDITOR env var. Example:
EDITOR="code --wait" auth0 ul templates update`

This presupposes that the code alias is on your path but according to official VS Code docs, it should already be exported by default in Windows. But if not, that may require some configuring.
Re: the 9-digit extension, that is randomly generated and a temporary artifact for ensuring uniqueness. The html file extension is there, although some apps may have it hidden.

For the environment variable to be persistent:
- Start menu
- Search: variables
- Click Environment variables
- Click New...
- Name:
EDITOR - Value:
code --wait
- Name:
Restart your terminal and every tool using this variable will not open with VS Code.
