marrakech's Introduction

Marrakech Game Overview

Marrakech is an engaging board game where 2 to 4 merchants compete in a bustling Marrakech market. Each player aims to impress the market owner, Assam, by strategically placing rugs across the board to gain his attention and control market areas.

Gameplay and Rules

  • Board Setup: The game is played on a 7x7 board.
  • Players: Each player starts with 15 rugs and 30 dirhams.
  • Turns: Player turns consist of three phases:
    1. Rotation Phase: Players may rotate Assam to change his direction.
    2. Movement Phase: Roll a die to determine Assam's movement. Payments are made if Assam lands on an opponent’s rug.
    3. Placement Phase: Players place a rug on the board, following specific placement rules.

Game Objectives

The game ends when a player runs out of rugs. Players score points based on the amount of visible rug area and remaining dirhams. The highest scorer wins the game. In the event of a tie, the player with the most dirhams prevails.

Key Features

  • Assam’s Movement: Assam can move based on the roll of a special die with faces numbered 1-4. The movement can lead Assam off the board, following a pre-defined track to re-enter the board.
  • Rug Placement Rules:
    • Rugs must be adjacent to Assam’s current square.
    • Rugs cannot cover Assam or completely overlap another visible rug.

Visuals and Components

The game includes detailed components such as rugs, the Assam piece, and a colorful board, all designed to enhance the playing experience. Here are some examples of the game’s visual components and setup:
