@Mirjang As far as I understand doing this task does not improve speed or quality in our reconstruction, right?

as far as i could see in my tests: No, as long as you stay withing a sane (8x) overall subsampling rate.

We should not apply subsampling rate so drastic. The image is not so big. If you already implemented this task, I would suggest just keep it in a branch just in case we need it.
