@worthwhileindustries Hm... Can you confirm please what version of zend-component-installer are you using?

And in the latest zend-component-installer we have:
https://github.com/zendframework/zend-component-installer/blob/1.0.0/src/ComponentInstaller.php#L12
So all seems to be right. Please check if definitely you have version 1.0.0, if not please update and try again. I think all should be fine.
