open-tran's Issues

Broken link for pt_BR gnome catalogs

Brazilian Portuguese GNOME catalogs are named pt_BR.po, but Open-tran has
links to pt_br.po files in its suggestions page.

Steps:
1. Load pt-br.open-tran.eu/suggest/label
2. Click on the first item: Rótulo (5×GNOME + 8×KDE + 2×Mozilla)
3. Click on the first subitem: GNOME beast / Label

The link is broken; it points to
http://svn.gnome.org/svn/beast/trunk/po/pt_br.po, but it should point to
http://svn.gnome.org/svn/beast/trunk/po/pt_BR.po

Add LXDE project translations

Here you have the links to the .pot files
http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Category:Translations#.2A.pot-files_for_offline_translat
ion_of_LXDE_components

and in the same directories there are the translations.

Import Pgadmin3 translations

There are two files: pgadmin3 and wsxtd. I think the last is from Wxwidgets
but I am not sure...

http://svn.pgadmin.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/trunk/pgadmin3/i18n/

It makes non sense but the .pot file for pgadmin3 is in the upper
directory: http://svn.pgadmin.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/trunk/pgadmin3/

Please make searches ignore accelators

Currently, these two URLs yield two different translation lists:

I believe Open-Tran.eu would be more useful if both URLs resulted in the
same search.

Ignore "null" translations

Often the so-called translation is a verbatim copy of the (usually English)
source. Such translations should not be listed. For example, this applies to
almost all "Translation suggestions (he → en)" suggestions here:
http://en.he.open-tran.eu/suggest/toggle

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to above URL, inspect suggestions.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Remove all suggestions that are identical with or similar to the original text.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Web.

Please provide any additional information below.

add aragonese (an) to open-tran

I'm using virtaal for localization from English/Spanish to Aragonese. It would
be useful to have Aragonese in open-tran. I'd also submite .po files to the
system.

Import aMule translations

The easiest way is to get this page
http://amule.sourceforge.net/translations/RELEASE-2_2_X/current_status.xml
and parse it. Then you could get all the files using wget. I couldn't find
their svn repository.

Estonian translation gives 500 Internal Server Error

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Go to the page
http://en.et.open-tran.eu/suggest/open

What is the expected output?
Estonian translations of the word "open".

What do you see instead?
500 Internal Server Error
Server got itself in trouble

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Tried with both Firefox 12.0 and Chromium 20.0.1128.0 on 10th June 2012. The OS
is openSUSE 12.1 x86.

Clean the database

Some entries could be omitted in the search, specially those which
have variables. For example:
<b>Immediate Downloads:</b>
       1. <b>%1</b> - <b>%2</b> [<b>%3</b>] (KDE amarok)

- When the searched strings contain variables such as %s, the results
are very confusing and they are far from the expected ones. Example:
Denied file request: %s
       1. %1$S %2$S: %3$S %4$S (Mozilla mail ldapAutoCompErrs)

Could you add the whole Debian translations including the Debconf templates
translations and all the levels of the Debian installer.

If you have questions about that maybe you could contact Christian Perrier.

Include original phrase in search results

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select a language
2. Search for some word like "member"

It would be helpful to have the original phrase for which a translation is
diplayed in the search results.

Use alt="" for decorative images

If you get to really see the alternative text instead of the images (like
the GNOME foot or the ((pt)) language code), you quickly realize they are
redundant. In example, there's the GNOME foot and then the "GNOME" word. If
you see the alt text instead of the image, you'll read "GNOME GNOME",
because the GNOME Foot has alt="GNOME". Same for the languages, if the
((pt)) is not displayed, you see "pt Portuguese"; the "pt" is superfluous.
So, in both examples and similiar situations, I suggest you to use alt=""
(which is much better than no alt).

Add Pidgin translations

The problem with importing these translations is that the developers use
Monotone as their cvs. Instructions here
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/UsingPidginMonotone

I don't know how the structure of the repository is, but I know that the
use Gettext.

Other way to get the files is to get the files in a direct way using wget
after parsing this webpage http://developer.pidgin.im/l10n/

locale not working on IE7

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the site in IE7
2. Change the locale from US to anyone (pt_BR, DE, etc)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The expected output is to change the locale of the page, but instead I
have only the english version, no matter what locale I define...

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
WinXP SP2 and Internet Explorer 7 (In Firefox it works prefect...)

Please provide any additional information below.

Search for one word AND another, not OR

If I enter multiple words, open-tran returns every message containing one
word OR another. IMHO returning messages with *all* words (AND operator)
would be much more useful.

Search phrase instead of just words

Please, when the user searches for a quoted expression, treat it as a
phrase, not a series of words. In example, if I search for "builtin
command", I want just that (or maybe similar matchss), not: builtin OR command.

[I don't know how to open a feature request instead of a bug report.]

where you can get the translations, maybe not all of them...

Check whether it would be possible to add support for DICT protocol. If
not, maybe it would be possible to include support for open-tran in KDict.

Rename Serbo-Croatian to Serbian

Since break-up of Yugoslavia in beginning of 90s, Serbo-Croatian language

It should be:

  sr Српски Serbian
  sr-latn Srpski Serbian

Finnish localization of the site is terrible

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enter open-tran.eu and choose Finnish locale, if not done automatically.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is to see a site written in proper Finnish. Instead, I
see Finnish that looks like it was written by a 7-year-old who has learned
writing a week ago. Actual errors in almost every sentence, not to mention
strange punctuation and clumsy language.

Xfce Goodies to be added

Dear developers.

Thank you for your efforts to make auto-update for this excellent tool.

We really appreciate this tool.

As taking part in translation of Xfce I can see that you have missed the
Goodies in Xfce. Goodies is all Xfce extensions not being in core.

Please be so kind and add this to the database.

Thank you in advance.

Display which program belongs a string

Some time ago, open-tran displayed from which program a string was and it
was really useful.

There's any plan to bring back this feature?

At least for the GNOME strings is really useful (since I'm a GNOME
translator :)

Also the number of hits was useful too (don't know if you want me to create
another issue for this)

Thanks for this really really useful website and project!

Fix in location

Hi,
in the openTran database is saved the file and the project from where the
translation comes. But for example in KDE there are two "korganizer.po",
one in documentation and another in gui. Can you please save the whole path
in this way:

KDE/doc/module/file.po
KDE/gui/module/file.po

or something similar for other projects.

I ask this because we are using openTran for catching errors and we were
arguing one week due to this. Complete location references would ease our
lifes a lot.
