When saving a note, the line breaks (\n) are not preserved and the text is smushed together when re-opening the note. Pretty serious ๐!
Self-explanatory. Adding a timestamp (last modified) to notes.
Added in Android 7, needs to be supported.
Title explains it all.
Swipe from right to left to delete notes.
Sometime, add the ability to add images to notes.

When creating the first note, the "add a note" text stays and the note overlaps it until the app is restarted.
When AddNoteActivity is launched from a different method (such as launcher shortcut or quick add) the keyboard is not automatically opened.
The app needs notes to be stored in SQLite instead of Local Storage. It will make new features a lot easier to add.
In logcat I am receiving this message repeatedly:
E/OpenGLRenderer: Corrupted GPU pixel buffer
This slows down the app and it needs to be fixed.
On the dev branch, where there is a custom Toolbar on HomeActivity (with a search icon), adding a note in the ListView displays over the custom Toolbar. I will fix this soon.
The app needs an Adaptive icon that complies to Android Oreo. Also, target API needs to be updated in 'Oreo update' of openJournal.
Will look into this soon, big bug.
As the title says, when you long press on the app icon in Android 7.0 or higher.
If a user is on military time/24hr clock, switch timestamp format to accommodate.
As the title says. Add a "openJournal" icon to add whatever text is being shared in a shared context menu (i.e. sharing a link) into a note.
It would be great to add formatting tools on long press. This could be markdown supported.
It would be very useful to add list functionality inside notes.
A ListView is inefficient and slows down the app greatly. We need to switch to a RecyclerView instead of ListView.
Just need to change what type of EditText it is.
openJournal is shutting down. It's been a fun experiment, but I've decided to end it. However, I recommend Standard Notes as a replacement for openJournal.
As such, the app needs to be updated to tell users. One final update, I suppose.
Exactly as title says. Probably in v0.9.6 or later.
In the app, once a new note is created, the onRestart()
method of HomeActivity runs. This method currently runs this code:
finish();
overridePendingTransition(0, 0);
startActivity(getIntent().addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NO_ANIMATION));
Meaning that every time HomeActivity is reopened (i.e. when a note is added and AddNoteActivity closes) the activity is restarted, in order to refresh the list of notes.
In the future, this needs to be changed to simply update the list of notes instead of restarting the activity.
This will provide great performance improvements by making the app feel much faster.
Currently, there is this message in logcat:
A SQLiteConnection object for database '/data/user/0/org.openssf.openjournal/databases/openJournalDB.db' was leaked! Please fix your application to end transactions in progress properly and to close the database when it is no longer needed.
Meaning there is a DB leak. This will be fixed in the 'performance improvements' update.
