Digital Pali Reader

The Digital Pali Reader (DPR) is a tool much like a hard-copy language reader, facilitating study of the Pali language at an advanced level. Rather than offering a translation for the text being read, a reader usually includes a dictionary with all of the difficult words found in the reader.

Build and test instructions

PaleMoon/Waterfox extension

Each set is in its own subfolder, and each set has a build.sh script that will create the xpi for use with PaleMoon/Waterfox. Better than this, though, is to simply create a link to the set directory in your PaleMoon/Waterfox profile's "extensions" directory.

To do this, create a file for the set, named:

<directory>@yuttadhammo.bhikkhu

with the location of the directory as the first and only line of the file, i.e.:

/path/to/directory

For example, create a file in your profile's "extensions" directory called:

[email protected]

and put the following in it:

/path/to/digitalpalireader

(replacing "/path/to" with the actual path of the digitalpalireader directory on your machine).

Do this for each extension and then restart browser.

DPR Web

To get DRP web running on the local machine:

Install live-server: npm i live-server -g

Run live-server in root folder: live-server

Browse to http://localhost:8080

digitalpalireader's Issues

BuddhistTexts archive not working

In the downloads tab is an option to download BuddhistTexts for offline use, which returns an error every time I click it.

Also in the options there is "use BuddhistTexts archive", but when I tried enabling and using the example link for the BuddhistTexts Android app it doesn't seem to do anything.

It would be good to be able to integrate this as it does have translations for the full 4 Nikayas, which dhammatalks.org and ATI do not.

Links from search results: property contained reference to invalid variable – error in parsing values (Waterfox 56.2.3)

Spun off from https://www.reddit.com/r/waterfox/comments/8zp9xw/-/e5hf7da/

… After an initial text search I get a number of abbreviated passages containing the search-string; with an arrow [link] to the full passage. That link doesn't respond and I can't actually get to the full text of the passage in question. I have a memory that this used to work a few versions ago …

Please, might there be a fix for compatibility with Waterfox 56.x?

(Not for me; for users such as https://www.reddit.com/user/Kalandaka00.)

Thanks
