Feature: Allow comments with links on each report

Allowing comments to be posted on reports would allow people to post links to newspaper (and other) reports of the incidents. It would also allow people to post first hand accounts and other commentary. A way to distinguish comments that are pure commentary from comments that link to source material would be useful.

Random link on each page

The "Random" link is an excellent tool for keeping these files in front of the public eye. I've made a bookmark of it, so I can pull up a new file e.g. every day. I've also made it my homepage.

However, it's only available (AFAI can see) on the front page. Could we please place it prominently on each page, so people can keep clicking it and seeing new information?

Most people won't have a set idea of the type of info they want to call up. So they'll look at all the search fields and say "Meh". The Random link is perfect magpie-mind fodder.

(I realize I've just incriminated myself as a magpie mind, but what can I say? I love new, shiny bits of information. ;) )

Further ideas:
• this link could also be provided as a bookmarklet
• "get a random War Diary as your homepage"
• "email me a random War Diary once a week"
• War Diary On This Day (from the same date of another year; could also be emailed on that date)
• Role-playing (convert the report to show the POV of the writer and people involved: stress that this is an interpretative exercise based on the original docs; encourage people to submit POV descriptions to a wiki? could be a good opportunity to personalize the docs and get people engaged)
• Depending on how far you want to go with personalization and POV, could also ask NGOs and Afghan people to upload pics and personal stories of "casualties".
