the nix install sets up nix at the end of the profile, but in manjaro we call bashrc first.

bashrc exec's fish, so fish doesn't work with nix...

linux and os x set up the environment separately, so i don't want to source things myself.

perhaps we could just replace the profile entirely, rather than piggy backing off the old one...

set up the mozilla overlays while we are at it to get rust and firefox, etc

git config is not represented in the nix repo

currently we are using a shell script to manually setup our fish system. lets move that into nix so we can guarantee clean updates

currently when logging in via sftp, .bashrc starts fish which generates output, which hangs sftp.

check for $PS1 or something before starting fish

When installing via WSL we get sqlite errors. The ix is to configure /etc/nix/nix.conf appropriately. We should check for WSL and do this automatically.

Caused by NixOS/nix#1203

having nano pop up to edit a commit message is the worst. this should never happen
