wirelessthings-launchpad's Issues

Documentation

Does anyone have the documentation available for the several devices (including the srf stick: all the AT commands)?

Setting a sensor back to default

There appears to be no way within the Configuration Wizard to restore factory setting and leave it there. There is a python script in Examples which does this but it would make sense for this to be a part of the Configuration Wizard.

AutoUpdate version file

Launched should strip any trailing CR LF chars from the version file before using it for making the download URL

LaunchPad service buttons

If starts a service (i.e. MessageBridge) and the service quickly stops, the service buttons (Start, Stop, Restart) are not being updated with the actual program status

Stop services from LaunchPad

If a service was started by the root (e.g autostart script), you can't stop it by LaunchPad, unless you start the LaunchPad using sudo.
Also, this also build the CSV log files be created by the root user.

Devices.json cannot be downloaded from wirelessthings.net any more

Since Wireless Things is shutting down, the configuration wizard cannot be used because it wants to download a file from their domain to update the devices.json file.
It fails to download and the software cannot be started.

Fix:
Update the config of the configuration wizard to download the file from this repository instead:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/WirelessThings/WirelessThings-LaunchPad/master/ConfigurationWizard/Devices.json

MessageBridge not starting if no IP address found

MessageBridge needs an IP address to run - OK.
If one is not available (e.g. because the wireless has not yet connected) then it should wait and retry until one is available. Particularly if run in auto start mode.

Question - what if there is an interruption in internet during running? Will it fail and not restart?

LaunchPad display messed up on High-DPI devices

Dunno how much this is a limitation of Tk (I know it's not with other Python UI libraries like Qt), but the LaunchPad app is partially unusable on high-dpi displays currently. This on Linux with a 4k 28 inch monitor (which is only a 200 quid device now, so not luxury/rare by any means).

e.g. see screenshot with tiny text and missing apply-config button (or whatever it says - I can't see it, apart from the very edge of the button at the bottom - other buttons like the 'Advanced' button is missing entirely).

LaunchPad V0.15 doesn't think any MessageBridges are running

  1. Start LaunchPad with MessageBridges running on the network
  2. Observer that LaunchPad looks for MessageBridges and reports that it cannot find any
  3. Start the ConfigurationWizard note that it finds the running MessageBridges

Confusing to user and should be fixed before 0.15 release.
