The Vz-HextrudORT

A light compact extruder that was firstly designed by MirageC. It was adapated and modified for easier printability and lower center of gravity to fit the VzBoT.

There 4 versions of the extruder.

-One printed with normal BMG type of gears

-One printed with Helical grub screw gears and the rest of BMG gears

(The printed version also has the possibility to have the motor at higher position to fit on the EVA 2.3-2.4 printhead)

-One standard CNC version with CNC gears. Those news are not retro-compatible with BMG. Can work with 8th or 10th nema14 round motor.

-One PLUS CNC version with bigger CNC gears.

(The CNC version is smaller in Y direction, allowing more space available in the back on the VzBoT Vz-Printhead. More space to mount a motor cooler or a toolhead CANbus board etc.)

vz-hextrudort's Issues

Filament insert problem

I wanted to use my VZ-Hextrudort for my ERCF printhead but the filament is not entering the extruder smoothly. It has a flat surface instead of a chamfer where the filament enters and it gets stuck here. Also by hand it's hard to hit that hole. Is there anything I can do to ease it in?

Please remove PTFE tube from STEP file.

The PTFE tube in the STEP file can be a nuisance when trying to model an extruder assembly around the Vz-Hextrudort and my CAD software is unable to remove the PTFE tube from the STEP file. Would it be possible to get a model without the PTFE tube attached? I get you're not wanting to share too much IP but struggled to work around the PTFE for my needs. As an aside I worked up a smaller Bowden adapter for it as well that might interest some...

3d Print Optimizations

-When printing with 0.4 Nozzle some features would benefit from being beefed up(here in Red)
Especially the main_body bottom right hole is having a hard time being sliced, even with thin walls active.
-Orange sections could be optimized to fit 2 perimeters inside by slightly thicken the model.
-I simplified the bottom right motor mount a little to optimize it for 3d printing. (in green)
-I also extruded the main_body lower right hole by 1mm to be able to fir a 16mm screw since they're more common.

-please update CAD to latest Version (doesn't match witch stl's

Hextrudort CNC CAD

Is there any chance the multi-body CAD will be uploaded? Currently, it's a single, merged body, so working with it is a pain.

Thank you!

Inconsistent extrusion - visible wood grain

Hey Simon, loved how easy the Mellow Vz-Hextrudort CNC was to install and setup on a Trident with Dirtybird hotend.

Is there anything I should be looking to mitigate visible wood grain when printing Mihai's Inconsistent Extrusion Test? The Vz-Hextrudort surface finish is the smoothest of three extruders I have on hand (LGX Lite, and a SLS Sherpa Micro), but it's the only one with the wood grain visible.

I purchased two Vz-Hextrudorts with the included motor and both have the exact same finish.

Photo of the grain only difference between the two photos is microsteps 8 vs 32.
