Getting Started

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying pages/index.js. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

API routes can be accessed on http://localhost:3000/api/hello. This endpoint can be edited in pages/api/hello.js.

The pages/api directory is mapped to /api/*. Files in this directory are treated as API routes instead of React pages.

Enhance README Generator with Deno Oak and Fresh Support

Problem:
The current README generator fails to incorporate essential information about Denojs, Oak, Fresh for FRAMEWORKS, PLATFORMS & LIBRARIES.

Solution:
Include checkboxes for Deno Oak and Fresh FRAMEWORKS, PLATFORMS & LIBRARIES sections respectively, allowing users to easily showcase these technologies in their readme's.

I would like to work on this under Hacktoberfest

Add more socials, for example Mastodon

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It would be great if the following socials could be integrated:

  • Mastodon
  • Researchgate
  • ORCiD
  • Google scholar

I know most of them are not relevant for tech folks, but more and more researchers are using GitHub to host and share data or code.

Excel and Power BI Missing in tech stack

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I have noticed that the current list of technologies in the tech stack does not include Microsoft Excel and Power BI. As these tools play a significant role in data analysis, reporting, and visualization, their inclusion would provide a more comprehensive overview of the technology stack.

Describe the solution you'd like ?

I would like to propose the addition of Microsoft Excel and Power BI to the list of technologies in the tech stack. Both tools are widely used in the industry for data-related tasks, and acknowledging their presence would be beneficial for users and contributors seeking information about the technology landscape. I have already created a Pull Request and made changes to the "tech.js" file and would be extremely happy if that gets merged with the main branch.

Describe alternatives you've considered ?

I understand that the tech stack may be curated with specific criteria in mind. However, considering the prevalence and relevance of Microsoft Excel and Power BI in various domains, their inclusion aligns with the goal of providing a holistic view of the technologies utilized in the project.

Additional context ?

Adding Microsoft Excel and Power BI to the tech stack would not only enhance the completeness of the list but also acknowledge the importance of these tools in data analysis and visualization workflows. It could be particularly valuable for users who are familiar with or rely on these tools in their projects.

Power BI
Excel

Feature Request

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
N/A

Describe the solution you'd like
Can you please add Webflow as an option to select/add on page 6 - "Add Tech that you use"?

Describe alternatives you've considered
I have searched for it and received this message "Oops! no result found for your search.".

Additional context
Possibly add the ability for users to manually create/add a technology/tool on page 6.

Offer options to change the badge type

Hello guys,

I really like your tool and used it to create a large part of my README.
I noticed that I can't choose between the different badge styles from shields.io.

It would be useful to be able to switch between the different styles (plastic, flat, flat-square, _for-the-badge). As far as I can tell, it seems to be just a parameter in the source URL of each badge (e.g. style=plastic&logo=appveyor`).

Thanks again for creating this tool. It helped me a lot!

Kind regards,
Julian

Add Git and Github

This is very interesting project.
I found that Git and Github are two skills that can be added.
It will be a great add-on

icon design

i was looking at icons and was wondering if more designs for same tool are possible...like in the image below; like user gets option to change theme of icon design
image

Addition of new tech stack

Need to add a new tech stack into the techstack options.Currently we have spring as an option which is the backend framework for java.Spring-boot is also a framework which is built on top of spring.

I kindly request the maintainers to look into that and assign someone to work on that issue.

Consider having a toggle theme (light and dark)

Something that is very interesting and that has great public acceptance is having a great UX and a dark and light mode. Consider implementing this functionality in your application.
If you want to insert it, I ask you to assign the task to me

Lack of Data Persistence in GPRM

Bug / Problem
I noticed a bug (lack of feature) in the GPRM, where the entered data is not persisted, causing inconvenience for users. After creating the profile and entering all the data, if we refresh the page or close & reopen the site again, all our entered data is lost.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open the GPRM.
  2. Enter some data into the fields (e.g., bio, projects, social links).
  3. Refresh the page or close and reopen the browser.
  4. Notice that the entered data is not persisted, and the fields are empty.

Expected behavior
I expected that the data I entered in GPRM would be saved (cache/session probably), allowing me to revisit the page later and continue editing or updating my profile without losing the entered information.

"Feature Request: Add Social Links to Generated README"

Add a new feature to the GitHub Profile ReadMe Maker (GPRM) website that allows users to include links to their social media profiles in the generated README.

Details:
Currently, users can create a README for their GitHub profile using GPRM, showcasing their projects and skills. This feature aims to enhance user profiles by providing a way to include links to various social media platforms.

Implementation:
Introduce a new section in the GPRM homepage where users can input their social media handles.
Allow users to enter handles for popular platforms like Twitter, GitHub, LinkedIn, and potentially others.
Modify the code that generates the README in the /api/hello.js file to include the social media links in the generated content.

Expected Behavior:

Users will see a new form on the GPRM homepage to input their social media handles.
The generated README will include links to the user's social media profiles, making it easier for visitors to connect and follow the user on different platforms.

GitHub Stats current streak issue

The current streak section seems to revert or not update properly.

In this screenshot from April 1 it shows the streak as 266
day1

On April 2nd it shows a lesser streak of 229
day2

Have refreshed browser. Tried on different browsers.

Add Random Memes Not Working

When attempting to add a random meme, only an empty state is shown, with only the icon of the image appearing, which may be due to the image not being found

Navigating back in between the readme generation steps

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I had to start from the beginning when I wanted to add more social links while I was in the "Add tech" step.

Describe the solution you'd like
I would like to have a back button just like the next button to navigate between the steps.

Describe alternatives you've considered
One solution might be to place a back button adjacent to the next button.
Another solution might be to place each step in its own URL such as /about, /socials, /tech, etc, such that the user can navigate between the steps through the browser's back button.
