Thank you for your clipboard manager for Hammerspoon! I've found it very useful. I've been working on a framework for Hammerspoon configuration management (https://github.com/zzamboni/oh-my-hammerspoon), and I took the liberty of including your configuration there as one of the first plugins (of course, your original code is properly credited). I wanted to let you know in case you have any feedback, or if you want to check it out.

is possible, but the timer option is better because of apps like iTerm that copy directly to the clipboard without the user pressing cmd+c

In any case, here's the code that hooks into cmd+c
