grass-gis-talks's Issues

Include protocol in av.tib.eu/player URL

Not in general, but the slides, src="//av.tib.eu/player/12963" is interpreted as file://... instead of https://... in Firefox. So, https:// seems to be appropriate, but it is little strange, so @veroandreo better test yourself if this is even relevant to you.

Links in the general features slide not readable

In the #GRASS generalities slide, links are not readable due to the color of the background. I like the grass at the bottom. It could be lower to take less of the slide, more like https://wenzeslaus.github.io/dissertation-presentation/#/13 although that's perhaps too subtle. However, there still might be overlap. So, if you want to keep the colors and not worry about the overlap, you can help readability by including glow (at the cost of design purity).

.glow {
    text-shadow: 0 0 20px white, 0 0 18px white, 0 0 16px white, 0 0 14px white, 0 0 12px white, 0 0 10px white, 0 0 8px white, 0 0 6px white;
}

Use as class="glow", e.g.,:

<p class="glow">
...
</p>

List of potential topics to include for Wageningen 2021 talk

This is a brainstorming with myself and some bullet points we discussed with Vaclav, Anna and Martin. No specific order, some may already be in Vaclav and Anna's original presentation. What do you think?

  • GRASS general stuff as in https://veroandreo.github.io/grass_opengeohub2021/presentation.html
  • A slide about history + bday pic
  • Different interfaces (Python, QGIS, R, WPS)
  • Actinia
  • GSoC projects
  • New addons
  • add new splash screen somewhere
  • website + tutorials in different languages
  • docker images
  • lots of remote sensing/EO tools (see eg FOSDEM 2018 presentation)
  • time series
  • band references
  • Sentinel toolbox (Guido?), Landsat, old good MODIS
  • Applications
  • Scientific applications (Google Scholar GRASS profile)
  • Community
  • Sponsoring - Donations at Opencollective

Importantly, we'll need to connect them with a storyline ;)
