Consider passing the actual checksums through with --checksum --checksum64 once you validate the checksums are appropriate. A less secure option is to pass --ignore-checksums if necessary.

do not show which files are being extracted

I'm installing msys inside a vagrant environment, but showing the extracted files is making things hard for me, as it "pollutes" the output and makes it hard to find any errors on the output. can you omit the extracted file names from the output? I'm talking about these lines:

Extracting msys64\var\lib\pacman\local\libtasn1-4.7-1\install
Extracting msys64\var\lib\pacman\local\libtasn1-4.7-1\mtree
Extracting msys64\var\lib\pacman\local\libutil-linux-2.26.2-1

Update MSYS2 to 20160921

After missing to updade to 20160205 as requested in #1 and pulling #4 which updates to 20160719, I saw that there is an even newer 20160921 release. I will better use that for the next Chocolatey MSYS2 package release.

Update to 20160205

Nice package, and chance of an update to the "msys2-x86_64-20160205.exe" version?

Improve MSYS2 initialization process

Calling msys2_shell.bat (or msys2_shell.cmd as introduced by PR #4 ) for initializing MSYS2 after unpacking doesn't work when installing the package under certain console environments like ConEmu. It breaks the whole Start-Process -Wait ... logic for sequential system initialization and pacman upgrade steps. Instead, separate CMD consoles are created, which start the MSYS2 console window, but immediately return, ending up in parallel execution of every step.

The official initialization process itself also changed for newer MSYS2 releases:
