given that:

• the CONTRIBUTORS file is derived from git metadata and is already surfaced in GitHub
• the CHANGELOG.md has been dropped in favor of GitHub releases

A pattern that's been adopted by other language version managers like rbenv and pyenv is to generate "shim" executables so that the value of PATH can remain stable. I think this would be a reasonable enhancement for gimme, too 🎉

The current github actions configuration is closely based on the original .travis.yml, where all of the target versions are built in series in a single job. This means that each job takes a while and any failures require digging through log output for details on which version failed. Moving up the target versions to the matrix level will hopefully both improve overall test time and raise up visibility about which version(s) failed to the level of individual github check ❌ / ✅
