that did the trick, I assume I had this older ixwebsocket from my previous compile of abaddon.

make sure you are on the latest master and that the submodules are updated (git submodule update

I just cloned it today using git clone https://github.com/uowuo/abaddon --recurse-submodules="subprojects"
Git status returns the following,

Also after using git submodule update it still fails to make.

thats pretty weird. the error means the code its trying to compile is from a really old commit, but the submodule was updated to not even include the code thats failing to compile. maybe delete the whole folder and retry. you shouldnt be able to find the text libdeflate_gzip_compress_bound
in subprojects/ IXWebSocket/ixwebsocket/IXGzipCodec.cpp
, if you are on the correct submodule commit

oh, looks like you have an older version of ixwebsocket installed on your system. you can either try updating it or removing it altogether and it will get picked up from submodules
