What version are you running? It seems to be a very old version of wavemon. Try 0.8.2 or at least 0.8.

Oh sorry, I didn't realise I was still on 0.7.6. Version 0.8.2 (apparently with nl80211 instead of Wext) seems to behave as expected:

Yes, the bulk of the wext ioctls got replaced in v0.8.0.
