As the title suggests. Interested in a reduced scaled version with a custom timeout instead of hiding.
The link for the installer is considered malicious by many companies and I can't install the software at my company notebook.
Please provide the installer and the versions on GitHub itself, since it's a place where the companies can trust and see how the build was generated.
you have a ko-fi or a buy me a coffee something so I can give you a few USD for making this? As someone who watches YouTube and uses my keyboard media keys quite heavily, this small change is actually a noticeable QoL improvement.
Title. Everything else works perfectly, but the system tray OSD doesn't show if I use the touchpad gestures on my laptop to adjust the volume. If I use the keyboard volume control, it works fine. The windows volume OSD doesn't appear in either situation, which is the most important thing.
These are the settings related to volume I have for my touchpad:
This isn't an experience-breaking issue, just something that would be nice to have.
Thanks!
The title says it all.
Adding the app to startup makes the volume bar popup just once without having pressed any media controls.
I'm a new user, as such I don't know if this was ever intended to catch and hide the brightness OSD (obviously the name doesn't imply this).
But, I read somewhere on the interwebs that it used to catch both.
I'm using it on windows 11.
It catches the volume OSD, but not the identical brightness OSD.
I am using both, but if HideVolumeOSD and Volume2 is starting at the same time with Windows it gives me the "Severe error: OSD window not found" from HideVolumeOSD. I need to open HideVolumeOSD first, then Volume2 and it works without issues. HideVolumeOSD can't find the OSD window cause Volume2 already running in the background also hiding some of it. Any chance for a fix where both programs works better together, so I don't have to do this every time myself in the correct order at Windows login? Many thanks no matter what happens :) I will provide this post on the Volume2 github as well.
Almost had a damn heart attack LOL
The cursor-operated volume control on the OSD (which is a HORRIBLE idea in the first place, Microsoft) is clickable even when the OSD is fully invisible. This ONLY happens if you've started the program in 'OSD enabled' mode. If you disable and re-enable it, it will not happen again, unless you keep the OSD enabled and restart the program. Starting the program with OSD disabled doesn't give any issues.
Cool widget. I just noticed that other OSD windows are hidden as well when using HideVolumeOSD.
For example, I'm using the "Camera on/off" OSD (check this article on how to enable it), and when using HideVolumeOSD this also gets hidden.
Maybe check against window size before hiding it? For example this notification has 62px height (gotten from Spy++) and should be excluded.
Every time the system starts up, the volume goes down from 100 to 98. Please fix it.
Program version 1.3.
Windows 10 21H1.
If you Install HideVolumeOSD in "Silent Mode", the OSD does not disappear. OSD disappears only if there is no "-hide" key.
I found this nice program while I was looking for a solution to other problem. My problem is that the Windows volume goes up all time, if I use my mouse to hit down the volume it cames back to the 100% in a few seconds. It only stops if I press the multimedia key Vol+ one single time on my ketboard. I tried to fix it changing my keyboard, the usb port, formating my pc and it dindt work. Some ideas to fix it?
Sometimes the programm cannot find osd windows, when you restart Windows and then not adjusting volume manually before the program starts. I tried to delay startup with task scheduler and admin rights but no luck.
I have a laptop that displays the brightness control in the same spot where volumeOSD
appears. Now when I enable HideVolumeOSD
, it makes the brightness control OSD
disappear as well.
Hello there!
Thank you a lot for making this program, however I would like to fork it to add a few additional options I think are neccessairy. Would you mind releasing this under a permissive license (e.g. BSD, MIT)?
Thanks a lot in advance.
As my title says, I usually want to have it indicate my current volume and brightness when I adjust it, but I don’t want my music player to display it when playing music, it’s too big and annoying, serious Hindered my work.
It does not auto run with the computer.
I noticed the volume OSD started to appear again recently. When looking at windows update history I see:
Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H2
Successfully installed on 5/3/2022
Which was two weeks ago. So I'm guessing that's the culprit, as I can't imagine anything other than windows update would be able to break this, and I don't remember seeing the OSD more than two weeks ago.
I just downloaded new update of the windows and i think it doesn't work anymore. I click the shortcut and it does nothing, no errors, nothing on task manager, no nothing. Any ideas?
There are no installation instructions and official binaries. Also, Choco does not have this program.
Thanks for this awesome project. But can you add a README.md
describing this project and giving the download link. I found this project http://wordpress.venturi.de/?p=1 here.
First of all thanks for this great tool. This seems to be the only working solution on the entire internet!
As in the title, the Offset in pixels can be empty and throws an error, just a minor thing though.

Settings.Default.VolumeDisplayOffset = int.Parse(textBoxOffset.Text);
Hello,
Is it possible to add the feature of configuring a hotkey to toggle the volume hide?
Thank you
Currently the program basically minimizes the osd window (I assume this is done to be able to restore it).
I think it would be nice to have a "permanent" command line option that uses CloseWindow() instead of ShowWindow(SW_MINIMIZED). I've been using it for a while now because I personally never restore it anyway, I just want the OSD to be gone. Maybe someone else uses it the same way.
The advantage is that some smaller bugs (most likely from Windows) cause the OSD to show from time to time, or there is a invisible clickable area in the top left that can cause some headache (perhaps literally if using headphones). With HideWindow these are completely gone, but from my testing it is impossible to be restored from that point on (at least with the current method). This would be a nice option for people who don't want to restore the OSD at all.
The application works as intended after installing.
But after a reboot the Volume OSD is back even though HideVolumeOSD is running. Toggling it hidden also does not work.
I'm using Windows 10 with newest updates
