From the README of this repo, it looks like the SyncContext is cleared, but not restored later. Could that cause malfunctions in the calling code that is not expecting SyncContext to be cleared?

ContextFreeTask should have ConfigureAwait. Capture SynchronizationContext if called with true.

Now, ContextFreeTask has two responsibilities:

• await operations in the methods which return ContextFreeTask capture no context
• await operations on ContextFreeTask capture no context

These should be separated.

Don't know if this can be fixed by you or it is a VS debugger issue.

If I press F10 on this line, the expected next debugger step would be line 26.
Unfortunately the debugger steps out and the debugger never breaks on line 26.

If you change the return type to Task, this works.

ConfigureAwait(false) does two things:

• it avoids posting to SynchronziationContext.Current
• it avoids using TaskScheduler.Current

So to truly be a replacement for it, you must also re-schedule execution of the entire async method if TaskScheduler.Current != TaskScheduler.Default.
