learningspacetheme's Issues

Email links missing of drop down

We'd previously talked about the links that appear in this menu:

Student and staff feedback indicated that being able to link to emails from here was a positive thing and we'd agree that this would stay in the new theme.

This afternoon we've had a student question where the email link has gone. Can we please have this added back on this menu as previously agreed.

Turn it in error messages are unstyled

Sorry only tested in learn-dev, but I noticed that when it didn't allow a submission, the error text was the same as the body text and i didn't notice it until i'd tried a few times.

There is an errorbox ID in the code. Does this need looking at?

<div id="errorbox" class="box generalbox boxwidthwide boxaligncenter error">File type not allowed. Allowed types are (doc, docx, rtf, txt, pdf, htm, html, odt, hwp, ps, wpd)<br></div>

Resize Option for profile description not available in IE

Moved across by request from Issues. (ucfalmouth/issues#275)

The resize text box option available on other browsers isn't available on Internet Explorer. This has been reported by a student, just awaiting more detail about browser version.

Tested in browserstack, this option is missing for IE 10, 9 and 8. You can recreate this box in the user profile page under description.

Problems with this page link

In the original design there was a "Problem with this page" link at the bottom of all pages, used to report bugs and broken content within Learning Space.

It was suggested that Intercom would provide this functionality. At the moment, there is nothing to help users report bugs, missing content etc. I think this link is an important feature of LS, and would improve transparency with what we are doing etc.

Key Information is missing notification

When refreshing on a new page the "key information is missing" notification pops up before loading documents. This happens whether or not you have information in here.

Back button request for forums

In the old theme when clicking on the back to module button within forums the action was that the view went up one layer on the thread. Now it does what the button says and goes back to the module.

Could we have a new button created in forum posts which allows users to go up one level as was happening in the older learning space.

Category Display

Styling of category menu displays slightly differently across browsers. Inconsistent display on Chrome.

Student Unable to Add Images

Hi Aaron,

Just been informed students are unable to see the upload picture option. We checked Monday and noticed it was hidden in the old theme. Is this still the case now? I have looked through the Moodle settings and all looks to be ok there.

Wiziwig editor not working on LS

Hey Aaron,

I know you are aware of this but noticed it wasnt in here. The wiziwig editor for LS live 2.4 is not working it has reverted back to the old one.

Module info duplication fix

RE: ucfalmouth/issues#304

We decided that we couldn't switch off the old HTML block without consultation with Academics, but in the meantime, we could remove some of the duplication using the following is @aaronmarruk is agreeable to this being the best temp solution.

div.btn-group.module-dropdown {
display: none;
}

Ability to see course logs

Current theme doesn't use the navigation block and so course logs are unavailable to lecturers. Can a hard link be added to this theme which allows staff users to see course logs.

This was previously an issue in other repo - ucfalmouth/issues#306

Turn it in example hangs

This may not be a theme issue, I just wanted to do some debugging, in case there are any scripts that are causing it to hang.

Module Section Inserted Images not resizing in IE

Moving from Issue Repo as requested: ucfalmouth/issues#168

Aaron:

"It appears there are 3 problems:

  1. The image sizing JS doesn't work in IE – I believe the YUI Library that does the actual "drag-resize" isn't functioning correctly in IE.
  2. The "resizing" only actually adds width and height inline HTML attributes (See above). It doesn't actually resize the images.
    2.b This will undoubtedly cause issues on mobile browsers where bandwidth may be a premium and/or restricted as the "resized" image is still the same size on disk i.e. MB.
    2.c Adding inline HTML attributes actually causes images to be unresponsive, and so won't display correctly on Mobile, if the image is too wide for example.
  3. Twitter bootstrap – the framework we are using as the base for the theme – actually overrides the inline attributes for IE, to overcome the issues re responsive images. This means that there are inconsistencies in the display of images as normal browsers display the resized image while IE displays them at the original size."

Sidebar is a little bit too low contrast

It came up that the sidebars may be a little too low contrast.

I will investigate. I suspect that I could maybe increase the contrast a tad, just to make the menu items a little more legible.

Renaming of Resources Dropbox for AAT

Hi Aaron,

as we spoke on Friday, Susan Lamb has got back to me and stated that Assessment Information would be appropriate for the renaming of Results Release. @aaronmarruk let me know if there is anything you want adding to the change log so we can get these changes done for this week. Ideally would be great to have the changes done by Wednesday as AAT have a schedule.
