d2l-grades-export's Issues

Validate outputted grade values

Outputted grade values might not be valid (i.e.: not in [ABCDF]) due to user error in D2L. Provide assistance/guidance to users to reduce confusion.

Hey King,

I was just talking with Bill Richardson in KNES and when he did the export grades he got a number/100 (i.e. the weighted grade) in the csv file. In Grades > Settings > Org Unit Display Options > Student View Display Options the Grade scheme symbol was not selected. Once we selected Grade scheme symbol the export grades tool did indeed export the letter grade from the scheme.

This is not in the instructions, so not sure if it is a bug or something overlooked.

Thoughts?

Some non-instructors may be able to export grades file

As TA Full access, I was able to generate the file. See attached W2014CHEM201L03 Final Grade_TA Full access.csv
TA Grading only allows me to generate A file BUT when you open it, there are no grades. SeeW2014CHEM201L03 Final Grade_TAgrading only.csv
TA No grading role would give me the “An error occurred fetching information for the selected course. You might lack permissions to read class or grade information” message
The roles and permissions set up on Test are different than what’s in production, so it’s hard to compare.
However, would it be save to say that we only want Instructors to be able to download the file?
All other roles, including Instructor-RO and TA’s, will see the “lack of permission” error?
How about Course Administrators?

Valence API version 1.4 is obsolete as of LMS 10.7.0. The API calls need to be updated, preferably to 1.14+.
