Local development

This project is built using the ASP.NET MVC web framework.

  1. First clone this repository and cd into its directory:

    git clone [email protected]:TwilioDevEd/ivr-phone-tree-csharp.git
    cd ivr-phone-tree-csharp

  2. Build the solution.

  3. Expose your application to the wider internet using ngrok. This step is important because the application won't work as expected if you run it through localhost.

To start using ngrok in our project you'll have execute to the following line in the command prompt.

ngrok http 1112 -host-header="localhost:1112"

Keep in mind that our endpoint is:

http://<your-ngrok-subdomain>.ngrok.io/ivr/welcome

Remember to update the Local.config file with the generated ngrok subdomain.

  1. Configure Twilio to call your webhooks.

You will also need to configure Twilio to call your application when calls are received in your Twilio Number. The voice url should look something like this:

http://<your-ngrok-subdomain>.ngrok.io/ivr/welcome

ivr-phone-tree-csharp's Issues

Port to .NET Core?

I'm trying to port this app to .NET Core, and for the most part it seems fairly straight-forward. I have the "WelcomeController" working, and it redirects to the "MenuController", BUT the "Show" method in the "MenuController" is receiving null rather than the digit selected. I've tried forcing a "[FromBody]", but that failed. I tried reading the body of the message directly, and that also failed.

From what I can tell, the "TwiML" returned from the "WelcomeController" in the .NET Core version is identical to what is returned from the .NET Framework version.

Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Example

This example does not work , the documentation is wrong (for example the endpoint) ,
is there any working example with .net?
